🌱 Who put catnip on this dog?! The Ice Ice Babies just won’t leave him alone! This is one of the benefits of adopting from a foster-based rescue like IBKR. These babies are part of our families and are exposed to our pets and kids from the very beginning. Maybe an Ice Ice Baby will be your dog’s next best friend?!

Christmas isn’t over until…Kris, Kringle, & Noel are adopted! Remember Santa’s Babies? We took them in on 11/13 after they had been left outside in a dog dish during a rain storm. 🤩Impurrfectly Purrfect🤩

Last month, IBKR took in four spicy kittens that were being kept outside. The kittens hadn’t been socialized with people, so they were hissy little monsters in need of some good old corporal cuddling! Thanks to the work of foster mama Emily, all four kittens turned into great big lovebugs, and three were immediately adopted.

The fourth kitten – Firefly – had a terrible eye infection when she came to us. In spite of our vet’s treatment plan, her eye has only slightly improved. Dr. Martin has referred her to an ophthalmologist in Louisville who has been consulting on her case, and Firefly will see her in person very soon. It is quite possible that her eye will never be 100%, but her vision is great and it hasn’t stopped her from being a loving sweetheart of a kitten.

We will keep you posted about her progress in the coming weeks and will let you know when she will be available for adoption!

🔌 Cuddle puddle power! 🔌 The Ice Ice Babies had a close encounter with winter weather when the power went out in their foster home. Thanks to some good neighbors who brought a thermos of hot water, warm kitten formula was served and an old-fashioned hot water bottle (see lump in the picture) was huddled upon until the power returned 15 hours later.

We recently took in this sweet little mama & baby duo. This would be more adorable if mama wasn’t still just a baby herself. She is estimated to be 6 months old and weighs only 4.5 pounds. Let this be a reminder that spaying and neutering is the most important part of saving lives!

TABBY TAKEOVER! Incoming - a wintery mix with a 100% chance of cuteness. This group was found in a bush in the snowy weather with no mama in sight. The folks at Hal’s Haven in Danville asked if we could take them while they try to trap mom. How could we say no to these tiny faces?!

All 7 kittens are now toasty warm, tucked into bed with full bellies and dry diapers. These kittens were HUNGRY, so it’s likely they hadn’t been fed in a while. Hal’s Haven knows how important it is to spay mom, so once she is caught she will receive all the care she needs, too.

Oh there’s no place like home for the holidays…🎶

Ear-tipping is the new black! 🐈‍⬛ Today we want to highlight an incredible community partner Spay Our Strays and the thankless work they do for our Kentucky cats.

“80% of kittens born in the United States each year are born to outdoor community cats. Trap Neuter Return (TNR) is the most humane solution to the cat overpopulation crisis all over the globe. Cats are trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped, recovered in a safe environment, and released back to their original home. The ear tip is a universal sign that a cat has been altered. The cats then have fewer health issues and are no longer be able to reproduce. This results in less homeless cats, less stress on already-crowded animal shelters, and less cause for euthanasia. TNR saves lives.”

This year SOS veterinarian partners treated a variety of medical issues, including two eye enucleations and one limb amputation. IBKR took in 15 kittens that were trapped and still able to be socialized into cuddly pets.

Congratulations to SOS on hitting a record 1,000 sterilized cats in 2024! (Imagine how many homeless, ill, or worse kittens that would have been!!) In total they have sterilized almost 10,000 cats in the Bluegrass👏👏👏

🥊👀 SNEAK PEEK 👀🥊 Carmen & Cosmo coming soon! Let them just tug at your heart strings 🧶 “Carmen & Cosmo were found on the family farm in the Springfield area right after Hurricane Helene. Their mother gave birth to them in the grass, was most likely spooked by the storm, and abandoned them. We found them by total accident when they were 48 hours old, just before the yard was going to be mowed. Sadly, their smaller sister was too premature and did not make it, but these two are now flourishing!” We love our dedicated bottle feeders! 🍼🍼 This is why we do what we do! Please support us during the Good Giving Challenge this week!
