Clinical Behavior Trial

Does he/she vocalize, pant, become destructive, shake or tremble when you leave the house? Has your dog been diagnosed with separation anxiety? If you answered yes to any of the previous questions, your dog may qualify for a clinical study evaluating a new dietary behavior supplement. Your dog will be further evaluated by a Veterinary Behaviorist before enrollment.

Often deemed a nuisance behavior among dog owners, digging is a normal behavior among canines. To assist in meeting your dog half way, provide them an outlet to perfom this natural behavior by identifying a "human approved" digging location to explore.

As space and natural environment may be limited in your area, consider the placement of a children's plastic swimming pool or sandbox filled with sand or dirt or designate a specific "digging" space within your yard. You can encourage interactions in these areas by adding your dog's favorite toys and treats.

Satisfy your dog's natural need while fulfilling your desire to protect your home's landscape.

NEW DOCTOR ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Robyn Hayes, D.V.M., CVA, ACVB Resident! Dr. Hayes is originally from upstate New York and has lived all over the world, most recently relocating from Kentucky to Minnesota. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Cornell University, then attended two years of veterinary school at the University of London’s Royal Veterinary College. Dr. Hayes transferred to North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2005.

During her years in private practice as a small animal veterinarian, Dr. Hayes especially enjoyed managing dermatology and chronic pain cases as well as general surgery. In addition, she achieved credentials as a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. Dr. Hayes has been involved with animal rescue, as well as animal training courses, which led to her special interest in veterinary behavior and nurturing the human-animal bond.

In January of 2020, under the mentorship of Dr. Amy Pike, DVM, DACVB, IAABC-CABC, and Dr. Amanda Ringterink, DVM, DACVB, Dr. Hayes began a private practice residency with the goal of becoming board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists. She is a Fear Free Elite certificate holder and is also certified in Low-Stress Handling and Restraint through Dr. Sophia Yin’s Low-Stress Handling University.

Dr. Hayes spends her time outside the office with her family and enjoys hiking, camping, horseback riding, and spending time exploring the great outdoors in their new home state of Minnesota with her two children and two dogs.

One of "Stinky's" contributions to aiding in the education of toweling techniques and liquid medication administration. "Stinky" did a great job! He was positively reinforced for his efforts with a syringe containing tuna juice to mimic liquid medication.

Administering oral medications to our feline friends can be a daunting task for many cat owners as well as professionals who care for them.
For Keeps Pet Training was contacted by a pet sitting business seeking to advance their team members' knowledge and skill sets as it pertains to "everything" cats. In preparation for that presentation, "Happy" and "Stinky" were wonderful helpers in creating visuals.
Watch as "Happy" is presented with a common apparatus used to administer medications in tablet or capsule form. As part of her training to become familiar with the pet piller, she is enjoying the delivery of her favorite moist treats.
Helping our kitty friends to become familiar and comfortable with their care, relieves the stress and anxiety for ALL involved.
