PK Deficiency, or Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency, is a genetic disease that primarily affects dogs, particularly certain breeds like Basenjis, Beagles, Pugs and West Highland White Terriers. This condition is caused by a mutation in the PKLR gene, which is responsible for producing an enzyme called pyruvate kinase.
