They’re at it again folks.
Lacey Act Amendments will be mentioned in item 7.A. at the FWC Commission Meeting today.
From FWC:
"U.S. Rep. Luna (R-FL) and U.S. Sen. Rubio (R-FL) introduced legislation, H.R. 4922 and S.
1614, respectively, that would prevent the interstate transportation of invasive species and
would ban any nonnative species of mammals, fish, birds, amphibians, or reptiles from importation."
FWC has taken a position in favor of Lacey Amendments, which are being lobbied by the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (AFWA).

Wildlife Rehabilitation Permits. Staff will present the final rule language for changes to wildlife rehabilitation permits to increase public safety, improve animal welfare, clarify the rule, and standardize requirements by creating an apprentice rehabilitation permit, establishing required training for the apprentice permit, increasing record keeping requirements for rehabilitation facilities, standardizing release requirements for rehabilitated animals and establishing required continuing education training for permitted rehabilitators.

Federal Congressional Update. Staff will provide an update on fisheries and wildlife legislation before the U.S. Congress.
10.B.
Special Alligator Harvest Opportunity. Staff will present proposed final rule amendments to create new alligator hunting opportunities allowing a limited number of special opportunity permittees to take two alligators anywhere throughout the state where access is granted during the established regular alligator harvest season.
