POTENTIAL OWNER: How much is the puppy?
BREEDER: $2500+ dollars.
POTENTIAL OWNER: What?? It's way too expensive!!
BREEDER: What do you think would be a good price?
POTENTIAL OWNER: No more than $500. You breeders are so overpriced.
BREEDER: I am sorry you see it this way; why don't you try it yourself?
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I've never done it!
BREEDER: For FREE, I can teach you how to do it, and you will also have the knowledge of how to do it again.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Perfect, thank you!
BREEDER: To start, you will need a female(average cost $3500 and up)and a male(average cost $3500 and up) or semen (average $2000-$2500 and up). You will need to do genetic & health testing on them, which averages about $800+ per dog.

Let's not forget progesterone testings, inseminations, ultrasounds, x-rays, semen collections, semen analysis, potentially semen overnight shipping, and so on ($1500+).
Raise and provide daily care, feeding & grooming for two years. (minimal $250 per month) Oh, don’t forget monthly prevention, annual vet visits, and any other additional vet visits.
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have that much money...

BREEDER: For $1200, you can raise a litter and then keep one of the puppies. Obviously, you will pay the cost of whelping & care.
POTENTIAL OWNER: I can do that.
BREEDER: OK, so I have a female due to whelp in 2 weeks. You will need to be available 24/7 around the clock for at least eight weeks to help with delivery and care. ( a million loads of laundry) Another 4-plus weeks to monitor mom and puppies.
POTENTIAL OWNER: twelve weeks?? It's way too much time for me! I have to work.
BREEDER: Plus, You will need to be available for puppy families to call you 24/7/365 with a worry or concern, no matter the age. You MUST also be ready to take back the puppy/dog at any age if the family has an unforeseen emergency.
BREEDER: You will also need the reproductive vet to do progesterone testing($110/ test ), X-ray to get headcount ($100) & C-section($1000-$5000 if needed), and initial vet care on pups until old enough to be placed ($800+).
Have on hand a scale, thermometer, latex gloves, puppy pads, incubator, oxygen concentrator, nebulizer, heating lamp, whelping box, puppy pen, blankets, toys, bowls, cleaning supplies, appropriate food with supplements for mothers, formula, medications & hand feeding supplies in case of emergency...
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have all these things!
BREEDER: For $5000+, you can buy them.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Ummm .... You know, I think it might be better if I just buy a puppy.
BREEDER: Wise decision.
For us, there are no vacations or holidays; while you go to visit with family & friends, we are home at our dogs' side caring for them. It is a no-break commitment.
THIS IS THE REALITY
When you choose a reputable person, you aren’t only purchasing the puppy but also knowledge, support, experience, love, time, sacrifices, etc...
**Plus the cost of lifetime support to the puppy owners…
These numbers are just the tip of the iceberg, (best-case scenario!!!) As a reputable breeder who takes on this journey full-time!

When you have 7 dogs and 1 cat due for annual visits and shots, you become very thankful that your vet will do a house call!

Scheduled for some time next week!

Otherwise your doing 4 different trips to the vet’s office….

And after a morning of showing and lunch, we are going down for naps!!!!
2 more days of showing, and I am excited to see everyone throughout the weekend!!!!

The puppies and mom say nap time!!!!
Secret, CH Mirage’s Secret in the Dark took Best of Opposite (an awesome 5 point Major!!! And super excited that I finally got a picture of her and her registered owner in a photo together!!!!)
Ekcho, Collusion’s out of Secrets…. took 1st and Reserve Winners Dog
And Jovi, Collusion’s Dirty Little Secret! took 3rd place 🙂

I love all my babies, and I especially loved having my own bred-By babies in the ring today!!!!! They are doing awesome for only having gone in only 2 other weekends in their 17/18 months!

I can’t wait to see what the rest of this weekend holds for us!!!!

So Royal Canin a national Championship is next month.. just a few short weeks away…

I promised I wasn’t showing again till next year… however… Rebel did not make that promise…

With a short quick nudge from Andrea, Rebels FAVORITE handler… Rebel threw his paws into the ring!

5 shows, 5 days- with the Royal Canin National Championship wrapping up his weekend on December 17th and 18th…. Working dogs will be on Sunday!

There are going to be a ton of beautiful dogs there!
I am not showing him, but leaving that in the expert hands of his awesome Handler- Andrea!

I would love to be there showing my Bred-By puppies, but my bank account laughed at me when I talked to it… so…. Only Rebel is headed there.

I never thought I would have a dog that I would send with a handler, let alone one that would qualify to head to RC and make me excited!!!!

His show career came as a surprise to me… the puppy that came with the brat I needed for my pack- the puppy that refused to walk next to a luggage cart into the hotel- so he jumped on the dog bed on the cart for the ride up….

The dog that gave me beautiful puppies! And the dog that rounded out my pack!
The dog that was Owner Handled to his Championship by me in limited showings, and went to wrap up his Grand Championship, again in limited showings, and also took a Best in Specility Show on the same day at Perry GA on Easter Sunday in ‘22 with me and his puppies present!

The dog that has surpassed everyone’s expectations- and flourished at my home.

Liz and I, as Co-Owners couldn’t be more proud of this boy!!!!
He has given me the confidence in the ring, and throughout this last year, let me have fun while stuck at home watching him show- when he was in Texas for the nationals (my first Surgery) to showing in Perry (recovery from surgery) to the present (recovering from final surgery!)

He keeps me on my toes… or maybe it’s his kids… but this boy has become an awesome teenager, knows what to do- and is a phenominal dad and mentor to Jovi and Ekcho!

So we have been super busy the last few months!

After my surgery, Rebel and Ekcho came home- Ekcho ended up fitting in beautifully with the pack and the decision was made for him to stay.

We started handling classes for the puppies, and for me to see if I would be able to do it with all the changes.
We headed to the Sunshine State Cluster in Tampa last weekend where Jovi and Ekcho made their Debut!!! And they rocked it!!!
Jovi took winner every day and Ekcho took best of opposite.
Jovi went on to take second and fourth in puppy groups.
While Rebel was being handled by Andrea, Baylee and Jayden- taking Best Of breed every day!
Rebel also took Best of Opposite in the specility.

Thor went also, took winners and Best of Breed Owner Handler and reserve.

We rocked it in Tampa!!! And the dogs showed beautifully!!!!
Both Jovi and Rebel received complements from Judges on watching them progress and seeing how they’re careers go!

We’re currently looking forward to getting both Rebel and Jovi into the shows in August for a 4 day show and 2 day specility, with Jovi being entered in as a puppy in the regular show as bred-by… maybe…

Rebel is currently half way to his Bronze Grand Championship- with very limited showings. He is a natural in the ring and he and Secret both passed that down to Jovi! She is a complete natural when it comes to show time!

We also decided it was time for a bigger house! So back in April, a property we had been watching hit the market. Me doing what I do best, was able to negotiate a rocking deal on it- we closed this past Friday, and we have started rehabbing it! We hope to be in in a few weeks- the dogs will have more space inside, we’ll have a ton of land, and we can all have room to relax!

Today in Perry GA at the Peach Blossom Cluster Dog Show:
CH Mirages Cloudpeak Coup D'etat "Rebel" took Select Dog for a 5 point major under the expert handling of Andrea Elliott-Casterline.
This boy continues to amaze me at every turn!!!! 4 more days, 5 shows, and he is currently 10 points from his Grand Championship!!! (he needs 1 more major (3+ points) and the remaining points beyond that.)
(No pressure though Andrea!!!!!)
I can not wait to see him on Sunday!!!!!

How to put this spit fire into words!???!?

She has dad wrapped around her little paw! In the mornings, when he’s getting ready for work, she’s right there with Jaz the Cat and Maveric to help him. She plays all day, and when dad walks in the door- no matter where she is- she runs to the door to greet him!
Forgets all about me, the one who feeds her, cuddles her all day, cleans up after her… NOPE I don’t exist when dad comes home!!!

She is a ray of sunshine right now- Rebel is in Texas with his co-owner for the Specalty this weekend- and will be home in a few (maybe… hopefully less) weeks, and the other pups in the house keep me going.

Jovi will start show training in a few weeks, and in a few months we’ll enter her first show… I can’t wait to see how she does!!!

I really can’t wait to see where she takes us! And am excited for her future!!!
And I can only hope she is as good as her sire when she shows!!!

Ekcho is still looking for a Show Prospect home-
No experience required. Just a want to learn and a time commitment- OR! Allow us to show him- we’ll take him for shows (pick up usually in a Friday and returned by Monday- unless we have a 3-4 day show or it’s further away… ), we do the grooming required, show him and return him to you clean and happy! Having you do handling classes with him is a plus- and we can find a location near you for this. It’s more for him then you! (Unless you like it then it’s for both of you!!!)
