Stanley! Just over 3 weeks in and he's doing well. Not being reactive like he was, accepting new people into his circle, and rounding out nicely.
We did a slow intro and took a walk with a friend. He took treats from her along the walk and showed positive interest.This was him just hanging out after, taking treats and direction from her.
1 week in with Stanley.
We can fully handle Stanley, he's playing, he's eating, he's taking commands and corrections, and just a happy puppy.
Why am I updating Stan's progress so much? I'll give you a little backstory.
Stanley was adopted as a 4 month old puppy. He was getting increasingly vocal towards people as time went on. He had become fully reactive to people and dogs by 8 months old.
The family did reach out for help. The first trainer told them he was a bite risk and couldn't help them. The second trainer had him come to their location everyday for 2 weeks, muzzled. No progress was made. He was sent home with an E-collar with no guidance on conditioning or use.
(I have nothing against E-collars when used properly and for the right reasons)
His family was desperate, Stanley was not fit for rehoming.
By day 4 here, we were petting Stanley, we were getting tail wags, he was following directions and no longer attempting to bite in defense. Stanley's fear was mistaken for aggression.
Stanley is just a scared puppy who needed a chance, not a monster. He was going to be considered for behavioral euthanasia due to the risk he posed and there seemed to be no happy outcome for him.
Happy to say, that's not going to be his outcome. Always get second and third opinions and do your research on trainers.
Can't wait for his continued progress!

Teddy! I haven't had the chance to post a thing about this fabulous boy. He did a three week board and train here. Reactive to just about everything, especially large/loud vehicles. And stubborn as a mule.
He has made amazing progress and is a much calmer, confident guy. We didn't change Ted, just helped him see things a little differently. He goes home tomorrow but that's never the end!
Each board and train client gets an album of all the pictures and videos taken during training so they can watch the progress unfold and learn along the way. Tomorrow we will do a session in public and Teddy will get to go home and continue to enjoy his new found freedom.
Sammy with Doghouse Rescue Academy!
I've been putting Sam back into my rotation of working dogs. We have been doing dog intros, work with the cats, off leash, recall, on leash, basics, you name it.
She's easing right back into what she remembers.
She's going to make a great dog for someone who understands dogs and has some discipline.
This is the first bit of dog to dog play I've seen from her since she got here. Very proud of her.
Sam is available for adoption or a foster home. She's smart, athletic, and a lot of fun. She is dog selective so we are looking for a home with no dogs, or a crate/rotate option for foster.
Sammy has been in at least two foster homes with several other dogs and did great, one of them being mine with 6 other dogs. She was then adopted and surrendered for not doing well with other dogs after a year. That's never the whole story...
She needs more time and some work. Would love to get her out of boarding and continue her training in a home.

Not a thrilling video in itself, but compared to how he was when he came, he has made great progress.
Less reactive in his crate, leaving the most important object to him, recall, basic obedience, jumping, mouthing, and more.
No dog "graduates" or "passes", the work needs to continue after they go home and I help you do that.

Coco! This is a huge step for Coco, we have been working hard towards this. She is definitely taking her time with settling in but each day has been better than the previous. Now that we can play, we can get to work.
(I could hardly touch her the first few days, so this is great)

Ryder and Smokey!

They have no fosters and no where to go. They will have to be sent to a boarding facility and I don't want that.
Ryder and Smokey have been boarded here for months. Their rescue has no fosters and no applications for them. Smokey had a foster but their home was damaged in Ian. Ryder had potential homes and some trials but none that panned out for him.
Ryder is a def Aussie. He gets nervous if he can't read a situation. He has been here for months and I cannot figure out why he doesn't have a home. He has shown me no aggression, he is non destructive, crate and house trained, likes his toys, and sleeps like a baby. He knows some hand signals and walks well. His ideal home would be as an only dog, but he can be with other friendly dogs. It's just that he sees his toys as his only.
Smokey is a little guy and does well with other little dogs. And based on his interactions with cats I think he would be fine. I think he could get along with larger dogs if they were mellow/friendly, I think he's just afraid of them a bit. Smokey is not a lap dog, doesn't like to be picked up or held/restrained. He likes pets when he asks for them, other than that, he would prefer to take walks, get treats, and play with his toys. Also well behaved and has training.
This also goes for Huck who I have been posting. They need somewhere to go. I cannot keep them all happy and work like I need to.

Just a friendly reminder to get out there and work with your pups!
Play is such an important part of training. This session was more play than work, and that's okay. Make it fun, sprinkle in some things they know, and reward by playing. In this case her reward is throwing her frisbee, she's obsessed!
This is Bailey and she is a 3 year old GSD and she is available for adoption with Doghouse Rescue Academy. She is dog and cat friendly. She needs an active person who is willing to give her the outlets she needs.
Milly update! Milly has made a good amount of progress during her board and train, here is a small clip of one of the many things we have been working on. (I meant to say she doesn't get rewarded with food every time.)
I offer lots of different options for my clients. Whatever works best for you and your dog. Our group classes stay small, I only take a certain amount of dogs for Board and Trains and Day Trains.
