We pulled David and Hazel from Contra Costa Animal Services. David went to his foster home last night. He will be neutered on March 12th. Hazel went straight from the shelter to her spay appointment this morning as she is 99% pregnant and we do not need more rabbits. She is still in need of a foster home!
It will cost us about $500 to neuter David, spay Hazel and vaccinate and microchip both. If anyone would like to send a few dollars our way that would be much appreciated.
Venmo preferred: https://venmo.com/u/Napa_Bunnies or if you don't have Venmo we set up a fundraiser through Square: https://square.link/u/Wicv3T9Q
Thank you!

I have also word that the last two girls are safe and are also being spayed this morning.

***UPDATE*** He is safe with me at home waiting on his foster to pick him up.

David Hasselhop has only one week left before Contra Costa Animal Services will kill him. He is just one year old and by no fault of his own he ended up at a high kill shelter barely longer than a week ago. We need a serious foster commitment so we can pull him. David Hasselhop is currently unaltered and unvaccinated and would need to be kept separate from other rabbits in your home.

Looking for a single bunny? Squash or Persimmon might be right for you as they seem to prefer human companionship over a rabbit friend.
Squash is a super chill 2 year old lionlop boy who is extremely tidy and will follow you around after he is done napping. Persimmon is a very curious and active 1 year old harlequin lionhead mix girl. She melts away when you start scratching her head. Interested? Complete our adoption application today: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BUN/Rabbit
All our rabbits are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2, and we do not charge any adoption fees.
Not ready to adopt? We are always looking for indoor foster homes. We provide all the supplies and no prior experience is required.

***UPDATE***Jack The Hopper was adopted and Cindy Hopper may have been tagged by another rescue but she is still at the shelter. If she gets pulled, that leaves 4 rabbits that need out in the next week!

These are the remaining 6 rabbits at the Contra Costa Animal Services in Martinez, CA who need to be saved! They are available for adoption and the shelter will spay/neuter them for you. Napa Bunnies is a small foster-based rescue and we will need fosters till adoption (indoor homes only!) in order to help as we are already at capacity.
Here is a link to the shelter page: https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/7889/Transfer-Preferred-Other-Animals Apparently the shelter moves them to transfer preferred once they mark them to die!
I was told they are all very sweet bunnies and only 1 year old. They were just surrendered on 02/15/2025 and despite the shelter having 10 spaces and no other rabbits they are unwilling to extend their deadline!
Please comment if you can help and want to pledge funds to any rescue willing to pull. Any adopter, Napa Bunnies will vaccinate them against RHDV2 for free.
If you want to foster, please email [email protected]

***UPDATE***We have confirmation from the shelter that the first 5 with a kill date of 02/26 have all been pulled by a rescue. Additionally, 1 out of the other 6 has been tagged by a rescue which leaves us still with 5***
I am going to make a separate post for the remaining buns so there is no confusion and because Instagram has an image limit of 10.

says they have no more room for any incoming rabbits, and 11 rabbits are now at risk to be euthanized at this high-kill shelter. The first 5 must be adopted or rescued by 8am on 02/26/25, the others by 8am on 03/05/25.
They are not currently listed under the adoptable animals but rather under transfer preferred, but the shelter representative stated they may be adopted.
Please follow the link for more information about each rabbit: https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/7889/Transfer-Preferred-Other-Animals

Sonoma County Animal Services in Santa Rosa has 10 rabbits in their care which means they are reaching capacity. They have all different breeds, sizes and personalities. Five of them are altered and ready for adoption.
The shelter does not currently have the RHDV2 vaccine, so we are offering free vaccination to whomever adopt any of them. If you are interested in any of the bunnies not yet fixed, please reach out to Napa Bunnies and we will see what we can do to help. You can reach out to the shelter directly or message/email [email protected] for more information:
https://sonomacounty.ca.gov/health-and-human-services/health-services/divisions/public-health/animal-services/adopt
The rabbits not yet altered can be found under Lost & Found:
https://sonomacounty.ca.gov/health-and-human-services/health-services/divisions/public-health/animal-services/lost-and-found-animals
Adoption hours at the shelter are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 12PM-4:30PM.

Since the shelter is reaching capacity, we are looking at pulling Squash and Hutch who have been at the shelter for 176 and 161 days. If you are interested in fostering, Napa Bunnies will pull them, and you will foster through our program. We provide all the supplies, and any training/support you might need.

01/02/2025

Our first wellness and vaccination clinic for 2025 is scheduled for Saturday February 15th. Our veterinarian will be Dr. Sip, and your bun will receive a full exam in addition to the vaccine.
Cost is $100 per rabbit and includes the exam and both vaccine doses. If you are a Napa resident please inquire about our income eligible program to obtain free services.
Please don't wait to register, space is limited! Email [email protected] with questions or register online to reserve your spot:
https://new.shelterluv.com/form/community/BUN/10408-wellness-vax-clinic
We will be using the US made Medgene Labs vaccine that requires a second dose 21 days after the initial one unless your bun was previously vaccinated with Medgene which requires a single annual booster. You will be automatically scheduled to come back for the second shot three weeks later.
If your rabbit was previously vaccinated with the European imported vaccines ERAVAC or FILAVAC, you will need to get the initial two doses of Medgene vaccine.
It's important that your rabbit gets a wellness exam at least annually. Since the RHDV2 vaccine requires an annual booster, it's a great opportunity to do both at the same time.

Oreo and Mint are a bonded pair that were adopted to a family last year. Unfortunately they are being returned due to their guardian's family member having health issues. The elderly mom has respiratory problems and their doctor said they needed to remove all pets from their home.
Oreo and Mint are both 8-9 months old and very sweet and social. Mint is a medium size Florida white and Oreo is a medium size Netherland mix boy. They are available for adoption, but we also need an emergency foster home immediately! We provide all the supplies and any training/support you might need. Indoor homes only in the greater Bay Area.
Please email [email protected] or comment below if you are interested in adopting or fostering. There is no adoption fee and they are both fixed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Lucky is our first bunny adopted in 2025. We pulled him from Sonoma County Animal Services in early December. He was not in very good shape and deemed to be around 8 years old. We actually believe him to be younger, but he was likely kept in very poor conditions before ending up at the shelter. We had to treat him for lice, got him neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. During this time he was in a wonderful foster home, and his foster fell in love with him! It's hard to resist a sweet bunny who falls asleep while being held. We couldn't have imagined a better home. Lucky is indeed a lucky boy!

Meet Mickey our latest medical intake from the Napa County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. We noticed that something wasn't right when we dropped off our holiday treat bags for the shelter bunnies on Saturday. He had several uneaten treats and when he lifted his head I saw his overgrown incisors which made it impossible for him to pick up any food.
He had been seen at a local veterinarian a couple times for an incisor trim, but they were not trimming the teeth short enough, and ultimately the incisors would need to come out and we also had no idea of the condition of his molars so we decided to pull him from the shelter and take into our program in order to get him the care he requires.
Mickey is currently with one of the vets who sees our rabbits and awaiting surgery to have his incisors removed. His molars are also slightly uneven, but this is likely caused by his inability to properly wear them down which should not be a recurrence.
Mickey's surgery is an unplanned expensive last minute expense for our rescue, and we would appreciate any help we can get.
Please consider donating to our year-end fundraiser through the Napa Valley CanDo's GiveGuide by December 31st:
https://www.candogiveguide.org/nonprofits/napa-bunnies/
You may indicate that the donation is in honor of Mickey. Thank you!

Napa Bunny Colony Rescue Operation

We are a group of concerned individuals involved in a large-scale rabbit rescue in a residential area of Napa. We seek to gather up every single rabbit from the colony, get them spayed or neutered, and find them safe and loving indoor homes.

We have some donated supplies and we are going to contribute not only our time, but also our money to help these bunnies. We will need to cover the ongoing cost of feeding and caring for the rabbits, medical expenses including spay and neutering fees. Please support our efforts by making a donation today https://www.gofundme.com/f/napa-bunny-colony-rescue-operation

Note: when you make a donation through GoFundMe, there is an option for the GFM "tip" that can be changed to zero percent. You don't have to tip them!

The cost of this rescue operation will exceed $30,000. This is a volunteer operation and any money that you donate is going 100% towards rescuing the bunnies.
