A Nell story: This video might not look like much but this is a triumphant moment. Nell used to struggle with pick ups for the hike. Even though she knows me and loves the hikes, she had a bit of separation anxiety. Her tail would be tucked and she would even refuse to jump into the car. We put in the work with treats as a motivator and praise as the reward and we made progress slowly but surely. We also worked with the other dogs to give her space and not crowd the door when it was her turn. It took time, patience and a soft touch but, as seen in the video, Nell actually enjoys pickups now. This is a great example of how taking things slow and using positive reinforcement can guide our dog companions to success. #dogtraining #dogoftheday #doglife #packleader #atx #gooddog #positivereinforcement #rhodesianridgeback
