Morty at 11 weeks!!! We started with Morty a few weeks ago. His wonderful family wanted to set him up for success with potty training (which is a journey with puppies at this age!) and had us spend 8 hours a day with him the first two weeks after he came home. He is getting better every day! His recall is also 👌🏼
It’s safe to say everyone who has met Morty (and his beautiful sister, Phyllis) is in love!

A few days with Stella… who is 15 and keeps up with her 6 year old friends on daily walks!!! Stella lives for berries, snuggles, and naps. Ever seen these signs? They’re everywhere. And they’ve been everywhere for years. There isn’t a limited quantity available; the signs are always up and there are always puppies available if you call. This is a local PUPPY MILL. So many people think that puppy mills only exist in Pennsylvania—not true. They can prosper anywhere, especially when they offer dogs that are in high demand.

Ethical breeders (the opposite of puppy mills) never advertise like this. They have websites with waiting lists because they only produce two litters a year (while a puppy mill can produce dozens, depending on the number of females they have). They have extensive contracts that buyers sign that demand their dogs come back to them should their new family be unable to keep them. Puppy mills, on the other hand, only produce puppies for profit. They won’t take their dogs back and do not care what happens to them once money is exchanged.

Please do your research on . They can be hard to pick out online.

When I was in high school, I have distinct memories of nearly fainting on the third floor of school during the first few days back. It was like an OVEN and the air conditioning never worked. Please be mindful that your dogs are wearing a FUR COAT and the world can feel like an oven! While they have many mechanisms to help them cool down, it is very easy for them to suffer from heat stroke, especially during heat waves like the one we are having this week. Our daycare and daily walking pups have stayed safe by:
1️⃣ starting the day earlier, when it’s cooler
2️⃣ lots of breaks in the shade with water
3️⃣ avoiding hot pavement/direct sunlight
4️⃣ keeping the windows cracked on the car while we are on our walks so that the car doesn’t trap as much hot air and cools down quickly when we get in
5️⃣ AIR CONDITIONING!
6️⃣ shortening outings

Don’t force your dog to go out for more than 15-20 minutes if you cannot avoid the sun. You’ll notice how quickly they start panting and their bodies go into overdrive driving to cool down when you take them out. Pay attention to their signals—they cannot speak for themselves and rely on us to keep them safe.
