Henry’s Rescue
"Someone that has cared enough to feed Him for over months Sent me this. He waits... After his owners left him behind, when they found a new place to rent, and probably a new dog! It's raining, it's cold and will freeze. He will still be there waiting for owners to come back.... How does the street feeder tell him, they won't? How do you make a faithful servant not to obey?" Everyday the stray feeder makes her rounds and feeds Henry. All he has is his cat friends. Sometimes when people pass by walking their dogs he tries to tag along. He is lonely and longs to belong. Our rescue found an adopter and a foster who is willing to take him, but we had to get someone to secure him first. We had people go out to try to catch him and mean, strange men chased him off with a stick. Henry's trust was hard to gain after this. They tried trapping him with no luck and putting sedatives in his food with no luck . He was too smart and just let his cats eat the food. Finally after weeks of trying, the feeder was able to get a leash on him! He is now in boarding and will be making his way to his foster home and then his adopter! Prepping for dogs
This is a glimpse into part of how we prepare for dogs coming in. That weekend we had 14 dogs coming in. I had to prepare over 150 syringes of dewormer and meds for them all. We have been sending 5 days of dewormer per dog, plus 6 of the puppies were having tummy issues, so I sent an additional 7 days of another med for them. I had some liquid heartworm prevention for some of the dogs, so lots of separating! For the puppies with the upset stomachs, I made rice and mixed pumpkin and a little probiotic to send with them. I made around 5 days for each dog puppy. So had 35 bowls made for them. Lots of cage cleaning, walking, poop scooping, and so much more! This is just some of what our prepping looks like. #PDAR #rescue #tired
Sophie received her freedom ride. Unfortunately, she ate through her sutures and had to get stapled back up. Always something!! This lucky lady has been adopted! Sweet, sweet girl ! One of our heartworm positive babies.
Update: Transport covered! Thank you so much!!
Another Sophie! Look how smart and obedient she is! She is currently in Texas and is looking for a transport sponsor to get her to VA, hopefully the 21st.. Cost for transport is $200. She is another heart worm positive dog. She is listed as a Bernese Mountain Dog mix. She's 45lbs. She is also looking for a foster or adopter. Since she is heart worm positive, it is highly likely she was an outside dog, meaning she's probably not house trained. Adults tend to pick up house training quicker than puppies because better bladder control though!

People are just AWFUL. I had one of my volunteers in South Texas go out to try to secure Henry to put him into boarding and two grown men decided to CHASE him away for no reason other than to be mean. She stopped recording because she was worried they would see her. Henry took off and she didn't see where he went. It was no longer safe for my volunteer, so she had to leave empty handed. (She did go back out and was driving around to see if she could spot him, but had no luck) Some of the street feeders that he is used to will be going out tomorrow to see if they spot him. This is just extremely frustrating. He is not safe yet.
Jasper was left out on a chain 24-7. His owner surrendered him to the shelter because the neighbors complained he barked nonstop. Aussies are naturally vocal, but he does not bark that much as long as he gets his zoomies out and is given attention!! He sleeps through the night quietly with no issues. His neck is looking great where his embedded collar was! This was clearly a case of neglect. He is kid, dog, and cat friendly! Hes a bundle of energy and a little mouthy/jumpy. At 18lbs, he is a little boney and underweight. He needs to gain around 5-7lbs to be healthy. Hes a lovely young dog, at 1 years old and is a cuddlebug!#rescueanimals #PDAR #rescue #dog #cute #adoptdontshop #mixedbreed #aussie #energy
