We have pigment! Babies are born with pink pigment and as they grow it comes in. At 5 days old some of the pups have started this process. This will continue until their whole nose is black.

She is little but mighty 😅 our Blenheim girl prefers to shove herself underneath mom and nurse off of a bottom ni**le just about every time 🤦🏻♀️. She has 10 to choose from yet this is what she does. As long as she continues to gain weight she can pick whichever one she wants! We weigh the puppies at least once a day to ensure that everyone is gaining. All the puppies got their hip marks ( nail polish on their fur of their right hip ) yesterday so it’s easy to tell them apart at just a glance. Currently hot pink girl is our biggest pup coming in at 9.25 oz and our little Blenheim girl is the smallest at 6.6 oz.

The babies are doing amazing! Everyone is gaining weight. These guys are super active and hard to get photos of! Here are some quick shots of their body and face markings. I love these little spotted cows 🐄🐮🐶

Dinner buffet is open! These 5 are eating machines. Maui had a clogged duct but I was able to open it up yesterday. Today we did several warm compresses and cabbage compresses and I was able express it several time to get the size down. The pups are now able to nurse off that teat 🥳. We will be keeping a close eye on it but so far so good!

Welcome to the world 🥹💕 Maui is a rock star and delivered all 5 babies virtually unassisted in two hours. She was nice enough to do it during the day 🥰 Mom is resting and babies are nursing. Later this evening mom will get a post whelping rinse off but for now she is snugging her babies. Send positive vibes everyone stays heathy and happy. 😊

We have a puppy count! Miss Maui had her pre labor x ray today and we have 5 puppies! As you can see one is getting ready to exit ( and facing the correct way 🥳 ). Maui is super tired these days and even passed out at the vet waiting for her x-ray 😴Everyone send positive vibes for a quick easy whelp with heathy puppies. Puppy watch starts Sunday ⌚️

Nacho and I competed at the Hangtown kennel club Memorial Day dog show this weekend. we showed Saturday and Monday and nacho came away. Reserve winners Dog each day. This afternoon he had a nice spa day with our favorite Cavalier Groomer is looking great for next month shows. Good boy Nacho!

Baby Sq**rt is growing up 🥹 in this last month she has passed her advanced cardiac testing and her patella testing. She will be getting her yearly eye testing this month and her hips testing next month. 🤞🏼🤞🏼she keeps passing everything and will become a mama this summer/fall.

Nacho and I attended the Salty Dog Cluster in Vallejo this week. We showed Thursday and took winners dog and owner handler best of breed! Sunday we also showed and took winner dog a second time. What was most important was that he has a great time and made new friends. I am hoping to get him in with a professional show groomer and keep showing him for the rest of 2024. Good boy Nacho!

This morning Breezy met her new family! We have been counting down the days until they were able to fly in and pick her up. While we will miss her terribly I can’t wait to see what adventures she has with her wonderful loving family 🥹💕

We took mama Tipsy to the vet today just to make sure all system were working property after our hard weekend. She is the picture of heath and got extra love from everyone at the clinic.

Update: we lost this beautiful little soul at 8:07pm. We are not sure what happened. The first two weeks babies are very fragile. Once they crash it can be hard to bring them back. Puppies can’t regulate their body temperatures and single puppies have an even harder time not having littermates to snuggle with. We keep our nursery between 85-90 degrees and have a heating pad under the whelping box pad. He was cold when he crashed. We don’t know if he move way from mom and got cold or something was going on internally. We worked on him and his temp was coming up but he took his last breath tucked in my shirt with his mamas head snugging him.
Mama Tipsy was one of the best mothers I have seen in my 25 years in dogs. My heart breaks for her the most. We all did everything we could but nature had other plans for our sweet baby who we had named chip.

Welcome to the world little guy 💕. To say the last four days have been exhausting as an understatement 😅. Tipsy is a rockstar and with my help we welcomed her little nacho chip into the world at 2:30 this morning. Each delivery is unique and I’ll be sharing more about his entrance into the world once I get a much-needed nap. I’m still monitoring these two around the clock and regular is not yet in my future 😴. I’ll be back in the office on Tuesday to get caught up with emails phone calls, and text messages.

We are on puppy watch. Aka I don’t sleep for 3-4 days 😅. Dogs usually give birth at night. Tipsy is looking like she will be having a small litter. Those can be tough since it usually means larger puppies. It is extra important I am there and awake to help her if needed. Her temperature has dropped and she is nesting. Please send all the positive thoughts our way.
