We have roosters whose names all fit their personalities extremely well. We have an Olive egger, A lavender Orpington, a Black copper maran, and 2 silkies. Care to take a guess at their names and which name belongs to whom??

Apologies in advance as I step on my soap box: Under no circumstances should a baby Guinea pig be sent off to a new home at 3 weeks old, let alone be placed on transport. I am seeing an influx of this happening and honestly it’s astonishing to me that it even needs to be said. It’s downright sad. Transport and going off to a new home is stressful enough for an adult piggy. Imagine sending off such a small little bean under the same circumstances. This is absolutely no different than sending off a puppy or kitten too early. Weaning babies too early and sending babies off to new homes too early/freshly weaned is inexcusable. Every one has their own way of doing things and it’s okay to be different, but this is NOT one of those things. Always verify the age of the baby when looking to add a new little love to your home. Ask for specific birthdates and if that cannot be provided ask for weights, when the baby was weaned, for how long and if they are well adjusted to having been weaned. Pictured is a nursing 3 week old with her momma. Cavy breeding: where age is more than a number and size is everything 😉

The girls are offended the ground hog lied! We are ready for spring! Exciting spring litters are just around the corner. In the meantime I’ve sat down and went over plans for some programs/projects. With that came some hard decisions and some grow outs, as well as seasoned potatoes, will be looking for new gardens.

Good morning Gnomies! As the hours of daylight decrease and cooler weather starts creeping in, our feathery ladies egg production will soon come to a close for the season. Their bodies will be busy using energy to stay warm instead and award itself a much needed/well deserved break. We have a few silkie chicks from a previous hatch that could be looking for new gardens if there is interest. Happy Tuesday! It’s national pickle day, don’t forget to treat yourself 🤣
