Excited to watch these two puppies grow up and hopefully become service dogs for two deserving Veterans! “Mutsu” and “Xiomara” have been donated to and will be raised by loving families for the next year! They got their names from one of our most supportive local businesses, with Mutsu being named after a valiant military dog and Xiomara is named after a very special little girl fighting a big fight. We are proud of these puppies and look forward to their journey!

I’m horrible with birthdays but today is Nando’s sixth birthday and I just love this boy so much. From the day he arrived from Spain until now he’s been my Velcro dog and just loves everything, everyone and his enthusiasm is contagious 😊 thanks to for sending me this beautiful boy 🥰

Your furry friends are impacted by the heat too! Don't leave a pet unattended in a vehicle. Even with windows cracked, the car can become dangerously hot in minutes, & animals can die of heatstroke within 15 min. Always look before you lock!

Recruit Raisers, our name for CSDA dog fosters, are an extremely valuable part of the service dog training process. Recruit Raisers are an integral part in setting our dogs up for success by helping them get the best start on training and socializing. Recruit Raisers are needed for taking on service dogs in training of all ages, breeds and sizes. 3-6 month commitment, unless you want to stay on as a foster longer. Access to training, resources and a CSDA trainer while you foster
Is the daytime commitment a worry? A benefit of being a local Recruit Raiser is that you have the option of dropping your recruit off for some daytime training with our staff during the week. Weekend and holiday foster opportunities are available as well.
Each hour spent caring for a CSDA Recruit is vital to its development as a future service dog. The Recruit Raiser program provides a unique opportunity for volunteers to assist with our very important mission. To apply go to

An important post we had to share for ⚠️

As our children grow, it’s important to teach them the skills to interact with dogs safely. And, petting dogs is one of those skills to teach properly. We like kids to learn the phrase “one hand enough, two hands too rough!” from an early age.

When a child puts two hands on a dog, even if the interaction begins gently, it can escalate to rougher petting, grabbing, or hugging very easily. Teaching kids to pet a dog with one hand on the dog’s shoulder or back at the closest point relative to the child (i.e. NO reaching over the dog’s head or back) is a safe option and even something we adults can remember as well.

Remember to keep interactions brief and allow dogs plenty of opportunities to say “no, thanks!” (for kids and dogs!)

“This article argues that “responsible breeder” is not an oxymoron, that even if all the dogs in U.S. shelters and rescues were adopted, millions of people will still look to breeders to add a dog into their family. But . . . the dogs should be bred for healthy bodies and healthy dispositions as the criteria, not coat color or tail set.
