Did you know you are legally only allowed to ask someone with a service dog two questions?
1️⃣ Is that a service animal?
2️⃣ What tasks do they perform for your disability?
Keep in mind, these dogs are used as medical equipment. It would be strange to pet, kiss, or “distract” someone’s oxygen tank or wheelchair… the same can be said for service animals.
Asking the handler if you can say hi to their service animal is the polite thing to do! Just remember they are working so if the handler says no, it’s not personal! They just need their dog to be focused on their work. 🐕‍🦺🦮

Feeding time can be a helpful training tool, easily embedded into something you're already doing anyway! Remember that learning better impulse control in one area will help strengthen your dog's impulse control in other ways!
STEP 1: Ask your dog to "sit" in front of you.
STEP 2: When he has sat and made eye contact with you, take a kibble from his bowl and reward him.
STEP 3: Ask him to "wait" while you slowly lower the bowl. If he lunges towards it, raise it back up higher and ask him to sit again. Do not reward him for sitting the second time.
STEP 4: Lower the bowl almost to the floor. If he continues to sit, say "yes" and offer another kibble. Every time he breaks his sit or lunges for the bowl, raise it back up.
STEP 5: Once he is showing good restraint, lower the bowl all the way onto the floor, but continue asking him to wait.
STEP 6: Say "Okay!" and let him have his breakfast. Over the course of a few weeks, increase the time he has to wait before being allowed to approach the food dish.

• Create and manage user accounts and permissions on various brand-wide systems, including the CRM, G-Suite, Twilio, LearningZen and DogStar DMS
• Document and communicate user account details per franchise to the billing department for accurate Tech Fee billing
• Provide support on user system issues as they arise
• Manage various pilot and Beta programs to improve systems as needed, identifying key regional participants, and gathering feedback to determine a brand-wide fit
• Plan, develop, and conduct individual and group training related to brand-wide systems
• Monitor system production to ensure compliance and quality
• Develop documents and videos for automated system procedures, manuals, and requirements
• Promote a culture of feedback and communication as we work to improve processes
• Help identify process improvements
• Help implement process changes
• Create, enhance, and improve various documents and videos on a bi-lingual scale
• Coordinate projects with other team members as needed

Salary: $44,000 with potential increase after 90-day review

"Place" is one of our most foundational commands, and we teach it to every single dog in the early stages of training. Once your dog has aced "place", you can get her to up the ante by placing on top of fire hydrants (for more agile dogs), skateboards, on top of your back when you're on all fours, into your car, or even just the scale at the vet's clinic. Dogs are so adorably proud of themselves when they master this command—just look at those happy smiles!

A well-trained dog is the most beloved companion a family can have.

Our client, Ashley, was on the verge of rehoming her dog when she called us and described how absolutely exhausted she was from his antics; through tears, she confessed to hating him. She was skeptical we could turn things around, but after only a few weeks, he was a different dog.

Adventuring off-leash in the great outdoors can be a highly rewarding pastime for all parties involved as long as your dog has a reliable recall and understanding of his/her boundaries. For some dogs, the tendency to wander, hyperfocus on an interesting scent, or chase wildlife can make off-leash hiking too stressful for owners, who often gaze longingly at other passing hikers with their well-behaved, unleashed companions.
Dog Training Elite helps outdoorsy dog owners reach their goal of being able to reliably hike anywhere with their off-leash pooch. In fact, several of our training packages come with a specialty option in which you can choose to train your dog how to jog or hike with you off-leash!
NOTE: Always know the rules for any hike you go on…in most National Parks hiking off-leash is forbidden. Keep an eye out for our future post where we will list the top 10 off-leash hiking areas in the US.
