Meet our new foster baby, Louie. Some of you may have heard/followed the hoarding case of 63 Chihuahuas that the Adam's County SPCA took in. Louie was part of that case. We are still getting to know him, but his first day was extremely rough. The fact that he came to ask me for uppies on his second day is a HUGE step for him. We can't wait to see how his personality unfolds and to show him all the love he deserves. ❤️ Once we know more about him, we will post his adoption information, but for now we are letting him get adjusted.

***UPDATE*** This spot has been filled, but we do have another opening starting June 8th!

We have an opening for a 3 week Board and Train starting May 4th due to a cancellation. Board and Trains are great to set a foundation for you to continue to build on your dogs successful training. Here are a few examples of how a Board and Train can benefit you and your pup:

- Puppy Training: learning house manners, potty training, and basic skills when you don't have the time to get things started.
- Behavior Issues: resource guarding, under socialized, counter surfing, jumping, lacking confidence, and others
- Leash Manners: loose leash walking and reactivity
- Basic Obedience: helping to lay the foundation for basic training such as Sit, Down, Stay, Leash Manners, Leave It, and Recalls
- Aggression is evaluated on a case by case basis to see if it is something we can take on. Safety is top priority and we can't always accommodate

We take a multifaceted approach using Leadership, Positive Reinforcement, Service Dog Training tactics, and appropriate corrections as needed to achieve success. Keep in mind, this is a not a "here, train my dog for me" option. While we teach your dog boundaries, expectations, and the skills they need, YOU have to be the one to maintain that training once they come home. Without consistent reinforcement, concepts will slide and you could be back to where you started from.

Send us a message, or email [email protected] to see if this is a good option for you and your pup and receive more information about our program. We only take one Board and Train at a time, so all reservations are first come first served.

Nina joined us earlier this week for her very first puppy grooming. She was a little nervous at first (I may have gotten 💩 on), but once she realized we were her friends she fully relaxed....so much so that she fell asleep!! 😂 She is absolutely adorable 🥰

They say time flies when you're having fun!! How are we celebrating your 3 year anniversary with K2 today?!!!! Lexi is the most amazing individual with a heart of gold, and I couldn't imagine riding this journey without her. She is 100% my work soul mate. We laugh, we cry, we celebrate, we grieve, we have each other's back no matter what, we stomp through the challenges and sail through the accomplishments. She makes me jealous sometimes bc she's better than me at some things, and some of the dogs love her more than me. 🤣🤣 But it's all good, bc that's what makes us the best team out there! I couldn't do this crazy job without you! ❤️ Please join me in sending some love to Lexi today! Happy Anniversary!!!

I'm hoping there are some folks out there that can use these items. I have some meds leftover from Maizy that I would love to donate to someone that could use them, especially since they can be pricey, and I have an excess of hydrocortisone wipes if anyone uses those. If we don't have any takers, I will reach out to rescues as well to see if they can use them.

Incurin 1mg tabs (29 pills left in the box)
Imipramine 10mg tabs (there's a lot of these)
Pimobendan 2.5mg tiny tabs (35+/- left)
Furosemide 20mg tabs (15 left)

You can comment or private message. I will do my best to respond in the order in which they are received.

Pudgy had her first puppy vet appointment today and she rocked it! She was a little nervous at first, but she got some squeezy cheese to distract during some uncomfortable times (I'm sure I'll be paying for that later 😬). We made the vet visit fun by playing some games and doing some training in the room. She forgot all about where she was in no time! She is a healthy little baby and the vet thought she was the cutest. 🥰 They were also impressed that she knows how to sit and recall at her age. Proud foster momma ☺️

This little nugget has 1 week left for his Board and Train and nowhere to go after!!!! Please help spread the word so he doesn't have to go back to the rescue and lose all that he has gained.

Joe Dirt, aka Joe Joe, has made huge improvements while here. He is 96% amazing and 4% sour patch kid, but really who is ever perfect? That 4% is completely manageable with the right family.

Joe Needs:
- A strong leader and firm boundaries. If you are not comfortable being firm and providing appropriate correction when needed, he is not the dog for you.
- No cats. He is overly interested and overbearing. Just not the best fit for him.
- Joe is dog selective and requires slow introductions. He ❤️ loves ❤️ his baby foster sibling, Pudgy. Those 2 are inseparable. (Maybe they should be adopted together *hint *hint* 😜😜)
- Joe is comfortable with his immediate human pack and select regular visitors. A low traffic home will be best for him. He requires very slow and controlled human intros.
- Absolutely NO small children. Joe has been fine with teenagers who can take things slow and be respectful with him. They need to be able to uphold the boundaries set for him as well.

Joe is a love bug once he bonds with you. He loves to play fetch, snuggle on the couch, gently nibble on your ear (that's his form of kisses), go on walks, and give you the "cute eyes" if you aren't paying attention to him. He has great house manners and is crate trained. He is not destructive and enjoys both stuffies and bones for play. Joe also comes with transitional support from K2 to help his new family in getting acclimated and provide the best training support for him.

If you are interested in giving Joe his best life, please complete an application with Speranza Animal Rescue. And yes, Pudgy is also available for adoption through them. 🥰

This baby literally lights up his world. 🥰🥰 Joe is the best big brother to her. Today he took her outside for her first adventure. She's been scared to go out up until today. He walked her out to show her it was all ok. He has that Speranza smile, but he can light up a room when he's around his baby sis. ❤️❤️

Joe has made great strides during his board and train here and has just under 2 weeks to go. He's 96% sweet and 4% sour, but those sour moments are super easy to manage in the right environment. He truly is an amazing dog. ❤️

So we think these 2 should now be a package deal. Lol! If you want one, you have to take the other too. 🤣

Joe Dirt, aka Joe Joe, and Pudgy are available for adoption through Speranza Animal Rescue.

Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers, and sympathies. Bella was laid to rest yesterday at 10:04am. Losing 2 babies in less than a month has been hard to say the least. Our hearts are beyond broken. 💔💔 For anyone that knows us, our fur babies are not just pets, they are family and loved just as hard.

We didn't have you for very long, but you were so very loved during the time we had and I know you felt it. Bella was a dog that had zero F's to give. She loved everyone and if she said you were going to snuggle with her, then you were going to snuggle with her (dog or human). She had a certain s***k about her that could make you smile even on your darkest days. We were not expecting to have to make this decision so soon and so fast, but we know that you are now running free with no pain up there with Maizy. Our hearts are broken and you will be so very missed. Rest easy baby girl. Until we meet again. ❤️🌈🐾

Introducing Joe Dirt! This cutie is here for a Board and Train program from Speranza. We are evaluating him and working on some of his behaviors to make sure he can be the best boy to have a forever home.

Joe has been with us for 5 days and here is what we have learned so far:

- He LOVES to play fetch
- He is a happy boy 90% of the time
- He enjoys snuggles when he asks for them (especially whispering sweet nothing's in your ear)
- Does well in a crate (takes a little to settle at night, but does eventually- see additional notes below)
- Great with potty training - no accidents
- Doesn't get into trouble (stealing things or is destructive) when he is out and left in a room by himself for a short period of time
- Doesn't table or counter surf
- Is very gentle with taking treats or any mouthing he may do lovingly
- He respects boundaries of other dogs that set them

Things we are still evaluating or identified as areas to work on:

- Joe can have barrier aggression/fence fight with a person or dog he's not comfortable with
- He has springs in his legs and can jump up a good 3.5 feet and parkour off of you - he does this both when he is excited and to try to bite if he isn't comfortable with someone
- He can be aggressive with his greetings and requires slow introductions to people and dogs
- He was noted to have resource guarding with toys, food, and people and has displayed this in the past against people and dogs. He has not presented this yet here and we are still evaluating
- His play style can be very rough with other dogs who engage with him and he needs to be separated at times (especially when inside)
- When he wants to get at something, he gets hyper focused and will "churn his legs" to continue to try to get to it when you hold him back (think of a cartoon dog trying run and going nowhere 😂)

This week we're allowing him to decompress and learn the routines here before we start a lot of training with him. He was pretty stressed at the rescue and he definitely needed this time. As I noted before, he is a happy boy 90% of the time, so these issues we are sharing are only occurring 10% of the time. We will continue to update on his progress!

One thing about Maizy was that she always let us know when a dog could join our pack. If she accepted them, they were allowed to stay. Maizy made her last decision this year before she left us. Everyone keeps asking, and I finally have an answer. YES!!! Ranger has been adopted! Maizy said he could stay! This derpy dude rides the hot mess express every day and we absolutely love him. 🤣🤣 He adds a special flare to the family and is an essential part of the K2 team. While he's very choosy with people, Ranger is the boy who loves all the dogs that come here. He adjusts his play style to mesh with each one, and makes them feel comfortable here. His job is to entertain and exercise all the doggos that come here. He's learned how to set boundaries and properly correct other dogs when they are getting out of hand too. When off duty, you can catch him snuggling on the couch..... typically on top of someone, cuz what's personal space around here. 🤣 We absolutely LOVE this guy and he also said he's not going anywhere. Welcome to the family Ranger! ❤️❤️❤️
