Based on true events! Don’t be afraid when someone tries to approach you and your new puppy to set boundaries.

Nobody is entitled to touch, pick up, or feed your puppy without your permission! This is called ADVOCATING for your dog. This is one of the biggest ways to build neutrality out in public.

For dogs that are not as social(p.s. it’s okay to have an introverted dog😉 I don’t like to hug random strangers so don’t expect a “good dog” will want to be touched all the time by random people) being their advocate builds trust in you as their leader and protector of their boundaries.

For social dogs, this teaches them that not every dog/person means interaction and gives them the ability to walk past activity without needing to engage.

Plus, you want to determine who is allowed in your dog’s space and who isn’t. It’s okay to be crazy on this one! Stand in front of your dog and set the boundary. Don’t. Cross. This. Line!

✨We are excited to share that we are switching dog food and wanted to share this opportunity with you as well as we know that you value the nutrition your dog is getting and want to give your pup the best chance at a long, health life! ✨

We personally believe that if you invest in your dogs food now, you will minimize your investment in costly health issues down the road. While raw diet is the most nutritionally optimal, it is expensive and can be difficult to feed and doesn't work for every family.

Previously, we have used and recommended Inukshuk, and while we still feel it is a high quality food, it does contain several ingredients are not optimal like canola oil and synthetic taurine. After much research, calling companies, and trying foods out with our own dogs, we have settled on a new brand, TLC.

🐾In addition to using meat sources that are human grade(meaning no antibiotics and no byproducts like feathers, heads, etc which often cause inflammation in our pups systems and can mimic allergies or cause digestive upset), over 80% of the ingredients are whole foods as sources of vitamins and minerals rather than added synthetics which is a VERY high percentage when it comes to kibble. (including green lipped mussels which those who know me, know how excited I get seeing this ingredient in food because of it's health benefits)

Like Father Like Daughter.

These two have developed such a special and beautiful bond while Sedona has been training with us. Titus has always been a fantastic father, teaching his puppies gently but firmly and leading the pack well but he and Sedona are so similar in many ways and it’s been such a blessing to see his confidence, eagerness to learn and please, and ready for anything spirit pass along to her.

Been there, done that 😅

THIS is why we work on crate training(NOT just crate desensitization) with our puppies starting at just five weeks old! Many of our pups go home sleeping through the night, or if they do have to get up, it’s only once!

Here’s a few tips to help with the nighttime routine!

1️⃣ Limit food and water after 6pm and give plenty of time for them to go before bedtime
2️⃣ Play with your puppy before. You want your puppy tired and ready for bed!
3️⃣ Get in a good crate routine during the day. Out to potty first thing when they’re let out, lots of praise and reward, in the crate for naps and meals, and keep the crate small and cozy
4️⃣ If your puppy does need to go out, keep the mood quiet, no playtime, and immediately after go right back in the kennel

Should you crate train your puppy? 🐾

➡️We say yes! This is not something you want to skip. Not only does it give your puppy a place that is “just theirs” but it also teaches them important skills like

✅ Healthy separation
✅ The art of settling
✅ Learning to process and think through experiences
✅ Potty training!

Crate training also helps keep your puppy safe. If you’re gone and your puppy eats something and you come home to them unresponsive, or sick, you would have no idea what they got into.

Especially if you have multiple dogs, we always recommend crating while you’re gone as it takes one squabble(even for dogs that have gotten along their whole lives!) to end disastrously.

Make the crate fun‼️ Play games, have them eat meals there, put them in tired when they’re ready for a nap and practice having them in the crate while you’re home so the crate doesn’t just become someplace they go when you leave.

Each birth is so precious and beautiful to us and the emotions run deep. 🤍

There is so much heart behind everything we do with our program. It is truly a privilege to be such an intimate part of raising and nurturing these sweet babies as they grow and become family companions, adventure buddies, service dogs, therapy pups, heart healers, and so much more.

Even more so is getting to watch these little hands grow and learn how love, nurture and bring life into this world. Yes, our kids LOVE whelping the babies and are an active part in our program 🐾
