Good morning ☀️ from the Whoopsie Doodle pack! Its a beautiful day on the farm and we’re getting the silly out before mom has to work. She’s not of a fan of wrestling matches in the home office for some strange reason. 🤨 😂

Beautiful double rainbow over the farm this evening after a little storm passed through. I love our little slice of heaven. It’s not perfect- the land and house both need work after being somewhat neglected before we bought it but its so peaceful here. When I walk outside in the mornings to let the dogs run, I’m greeted by the sounds of cows mooing and roosters crowing in the distance. If I time it just right, I’m also serenaded by the church bells faintly ringing at the Catholic shrine. Much to my delight, there’s also a multitude of butterflies 🦋 of different colors everywhere I look! It really is a dream come true for me to finally live in the country.

Camille arrived safely on Wednesday! She is so calm and loving! Our entire family is smitten with her gentle, sweet disposition. My plan is to breed her to our Golden Mountain Doodle sire, Moose, who also has excellent health and a kind, gentle disposition. This litter will be F1B Reverse Golden Mountain Doodles and will help us preserve the desirable Golden Retriever traits in our breeding program going forward.

Not exactly the “dog free” office space my husband envisioned when we moved. 🤭 Neither of us has the heart to shut the door in their sweet faces though when we come in here to work. 😆

We are getting a special delivery today and can hardly contain our excitement!!! This sweet girl is Camille from Heartfelt Goldendoodles in TX. She’s a 3 yr old English Cream Golden Retriever who has already passed her OFA and PennHip health tests for hips, heart, patellas and elbows with flying colors! She’s produced some wonderful goldendoodle puppies already for Heartfelt - several of which are candidates for service/therapy work. She is calm, loving and human focused - exactly the temperament we strive for here at Whoopsie Doodles. I can’t wait to meet her in person and see where she takes our program! Stay tuned for updates!

Milly (pink) and Tuck (blue) checked in on their 1st Birthdays yesterday as well! They are both so loved! Tuck’s mom even went as far as to say he’s “heaven sent”! I am not gonna lie- there’s a good bit of prayer 🙏 involved during the family-finding process here behind the scenes so I’d have to agree that these pups really are heaven sent!

A few weeks ago, we bought a 10 acre “dood” ranch in rural North Alabama. 😄 We can’t wait to move our family in, leave the city behind and continue to pursue our dreams of raising pups.

Doodle lovers will love this bit of news! Nationwide insurance found a very significant reduction in cancer claims for Doodles versus Purebreds when they analyzed their data in 2021. Veterinarians call this phenomenon “hybrid vigor”. Cross breeding improves health and longevity! Link to Nationwide’s report in the comments.

Pupdate from Skye (Orange collar)! She is a great dog says her dad and loves to snuggle. It was hard for us to let her go after she spent an extended time with us healing from a fractured leg but it warms my heart to see her thriving and being adored by her family. ❤️

Sweet Rockie is still 👀 for his furever home. He’s a 35 lb mini F1b Bernedoodle who needs a fenced yard (not wireless or invisible) due to his love of chasing squirrels no matter whose yard they're in! 😀🐿 He’s 11 months old, neutered and up to date on his rabies shot. He’s house broken and crate trained. He's gentle with kids, loves snuggles and submissive towards other dogs. Message me for more info on this good boy!

So cool to see this cross getting attention! CNN ran a story on it too. We specialize in the low shedding doodle version of this breed and LOVE them! Golden Mountain Doodles are the best! You get the intelligence of a retriever and poodle without the rambunctiousness thanks to the laid back nature of a Bernese. Mixing the breeds together not only produces wonderful temperaments and coats, it also increases their life expectancy! According to scientists, this phenomenon is known as "hybrid vigor".

Dr. Anna Foreman, a U.K.-based veterinarian, told Newsweek: "There are many benefits to crossing two breeds of dog."

To all my Whoopsie Doodles puppy families: Tilly is approaching retirement. We will have one to two more litters from this amazing mama then she will be spayed and enjoy retired life with us. Diet induced heart disease (DCM) hasn’t gone away. If you aren’t feeding Purina, Hill’s, Royal Canin, Eukanuba or Iams, your dog may be at risk. Diet related DCM is reversible if caught early with an echocardiogram.

Please know that Summit is still seeing many cases of diet-associated dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in dogs. DCM causes the heart muscle to weaken and the heart to become very large, which can lead to heart failure and death if not properly treated. The types of dog food that are suspected to contribute to this condition are sometimes referred to as "non-traditional diets." These are commonly grain free, but not always. The diets in question typically contain large ratios of peas, lentils, chickpeas, dry beans, potatoes and sweet potatoes. The exact reason why we are still seeing this phenomenon has not been pinpointed yet, but intensive data analysis is uncovering new information. Question for my Whoopsie Doodle Pawrents! 🐾 Has your pup been swimming? Do they like the water? The Poodle and Golden Retriever side of Golden Mountain Doodles are natural swimmers and typically love the water. The Bernese side of them are not water dogs though so I’m curious to know! Our GMD has webbed feet and loves water but we’ve never taken him swimming. I bet he’d love it though.
