BRAVO K911:

WELCOME HOME DAKOTA & LADY ! 10 days & 12 days
Preacher and I took off Saturday night for a hotel so we could be closer to our track and have a 6 am start time b4 it got too hot . We knew this would be a tough one with 2 young Beagles missing for 10 days in the middle of nowhere . … But who better to locate 2 lost Beagles than a Beagle himself, Preacher !
When we arrived Sunday morning we got the good news that Dakota had been found about 5 miles away , late Saturday night. ( Day 10) Unfortunately Lady was not with her . However lady had been sighted in that same area on Day 6 . That is where Preacher would start his track . We had a basic area and a direction of travel . Preacher quickly disagreed with the direction of travel and went the opposite way . Preacher was tracking down a busy road and ignoring other dogs and farm animals . I knew he was hot on the trail .
Preacher crossed the road and turned down a long open cut out path . Basically a long grass road used by hunters, but a path of least resistance for sure. The sighting up on the road was about 4 days ago. I felt Preacher was very close to Lady . Come to find out ,after some door knocking , there had been another sighting . This time right at the top of the road we turned down and just the night before. So Preacher was close , Less than 24 hours behind Lady .
I got the family all set up with cameras and food stations etc. Nothing on camera last night , but today at 1:00 pm we had a very blurry picture of what might be Lady . I discussed further plans with the family and around 6 pm I got the call ! WE FOUND LADY ! The owner was on his way back to move the camera how we had just discussed and saw Lady walking right down the road ! He pulled over , tossed her a hot dog and she rolled over and started whining.
So happy these 2 are home . Great job TEAM DAKOTA & LADY and PREACHER TOO !! ❤️🐾🐾❤️ !

BRAVO K911: WAY TO GO PREACHER !!!
So proud of Preacher on this one. It’s not always immediately that we get validation or gratification on a track , because it normally takes some time after our track to bring the pet in . BUT …. BOY DID PREACHER NAIL THIS ONE !!!! Now just to get Dandelion on camera 🐾🐈‍⬛🐾
Check this out ! This is what a TRACKING DOG can do . After several inches of rain and storms all night …. We Started at the
WHITE X = possible sighting 4 days ago
Purple X = a possible sighting
Red X = house Dandelion was lost from
So Preaxher started at a possible sighting and said yes . Then tracked all the way to the house the cat was lost from . I had no idea there was a sighting at the house he circled on the map in purple or that the house he stopped at ( red) was where the cat escaped from ! These working dogs just AMAZE ME !!

Did end up at Urgent Care yesterday . These YellowJacket 🐝 stings are no joke. Bigger than the palm of my hand . They measured it with a tape measure .🤷‍♀️
Got an antibiotic and some ointment stuff and we’ll be back at it tomorrow. No amputation required 😀🤦‍♀️

BRAVO K911: CHUCHE missing since 5/28/24 in Fuquay -Varina ,NC
This little baby is 5 years old & 2 pounds !!! They said Yorkie / Chi mix . I mentioned he looked a lot like Lego who is my Russian Toy. She said,” EXACTLY” !!!! The daddy is a Russian Toy & Mom a Yorkie . Got him from a breeder here in NC .
Last Thursday,Day 28 , was the first & only sighting . What an amazing little guy . But Preacher is hot on his trail . Actually this was a first ! Preacher was tracking so hard that I was holding the lead about 5 ft back and the owner ( a big guy) was holding the end of the lead at 20 ft incase I dropped it . So Preacher says we are very close !! Hoping for more sightings and that Lego can have a new playmate !

BRAVO K911: I GUESS MY GOOD KARMA IS PAYING OFF …. First FREE STARBUCKS and now ❤️🐾❤️
Last week I coached and consulted and took a camera to , answered phone calls at midnight and did all I could to help get this lost pet home . The price was negotiated before we even started and I asked for a donation to help others so I could continue consulting and lending equipment at no charge. “Absolutely ,of course “ they responded . Well a week later the pet is home and they ask for my address . I thought it was to mail a donation , but it was to return the camera . 🤦‍♀️. So I asked if they needed my PayPal for the donation and the response was , “ I’m sorry I can’t do a donation , we have medical bills coming up but I have given your name out on Next Door . Sooooo that was not the first time , but certainly disappointing.
Well about the time I think I just can’t work for free anymore this happens. Today a cat returned home before I could get to the track tomorrow. They had already paid the Deposit as well as made a 200.00 donation on line . I called today to return the money and he said to please keep it and he had 4 brand new cellular cameras still in the box and he wants to donate those too !!!
So there ya go . Door closes, window opens. Right when ya lose hope in people a stranger buys you Starbucks and another gives a wonderful donation !!!

BRAVO K911: WELCOME HOME PHOEBE ❤️🐾❤️So I’ve managed to get a month or 2 back logged on REUNION STORIES , but they’ll be coming . Here is a recent one though , that just wrote itself !!!
“ From just the initial phone call with Balynda Brown, we got information that took us straight to my 15 y.o. blind/deaf lost chihuahua. Balynda was scheduled for a “dog-tracking” visit with me the next morning but she shared invaluable info of what we could do in the meantime. Given my dogs age, physical limitations, and a brief overview of my neighborhood’s surroundings, she practically took me straight to my dog which was laying in a pile of leaves located behind a house (3 houses down) down a huge hill, into a gully that led into the woods. We did what she said “walk down the driveway and go downhill in a straight line.” We tried to think the way she directed us and surveyed the slopes of the development road before it took us behind the house in the woods. My neighbor said “Balynda’s a psychic!” We called her with pure joy! It was a relief just knowing she would come the next morning to help me but I am thankful for her knowledge and her willingness to tell me how to think and act like an old, small, blind/deaf dog in order to find her safely. Balynda was thrilled to hear it, as well. She didn’t charge us a dime because she didn’t have to come now, but I can’t shout my gratitude enough. I definitely wouldn’t have found Phoebe without her precise directions. She was a Godsend!!!

BRAVO K911 : So this just happened…
Just got a random call from a radio station based in Winston -Salem,NC. I think they are mostly sports radio and cover the Piedmont -Triad area. They’ve asked me to go live in the morning for 8 minutes. No idea what we’ll talk about or how they came up with the idea of having me on . They have not asked me for any info or bio or anything . Just said it would be casual, like two friends chatting on the couch and they’d call me at 8:05 . So if you happen to be up at that hour , tune in from 8:07- 8:15. I’ll put a link here and you can listen online or some friends told me they just told Alexa to play that station for them and she did. Wish me luck . I’ll try not to talk too fast or too southern . LOL ..

BRAVO K911 :
Excited to be presenters once again at the 21st Annual Basenji Rescue & Transport, Inc. convention . We are in beautiful Asheville,NC. This will be our 3rd time speaking here in 9 years . Either they just like us , we are good or we extremely entertaining ,lol. Hopefully it’s all 3 !
We have a fun 2 hour presentation put together .. Complete with power point , some tracking with my dogs and then some fun try -its for the Basenjis . Love how much this group does for not only Basenjis , but also to educate their members . ❤️🐾❤️

BRAVO K911 : WELCOME HOME LITTLE SNOW ,10 days ❤️🐾❤️
Last night I went to bed pretty upset and sad . I had spent time trying to help someone and give them all of my advice I had , from grills, to cameras, to tracking to drones. I was called INSANE several times and a waste of time. Because they said who in this world just happens to have a grill , camera or drone ?? This unfortunately actually happens quite often and it can get to you at times for sure . Like last night .
However , this morning I woke up to this !!! THIS is what keeps me going !!!
“ Ms. Balynda I know you’re sleeping but as the boys told you Snow has been caught. I can’t thank you enough for all you did, for your expertise in what you do, for giving me hope and assurance that she was going to get caught even tho I wasn’t sure if that and most of all for putting up with my questions, my texting. I would always be grateful !!! It only took 10 days, you’re the best in your field no wonder everyone recommended you. ❤️❤️❤️ “
I got the frantic call 10 days ago from the two brothers. Their mother was out of the country and they were petsitting all of the animals. Unfortunately little Snow escaped out of a window and then out of the fenced in yard. In no time at all I was looped in on a group text and being asked to PLEASE COME BRING A DOG .
It was only day 1 though and they had eyes on her once that evening. I don’t like to go out in the first 24-48 hours for pets . Normally they are hunkered down and I may scare them or they are still moving and need to settle . However these boys were in hot water with their Mother and I felt I really needed to help them . I went out with no dogs and did a “ boots on the ground “ consult and helped set cameras and food stations . We had torrential rains to deal with and this definitely makes things more difficult . Lucky for us ,48 hours later , Snow showed up at our food station . She did not eat , just cruised by . We got the trap out , but more rain and no more sightings.
The mom arrived back home on Monday and was eager to get her kitty home . That first night Snow appeared again and then nothing for another 24 hours. Then we got the call that she had been seen 10 houses down 🤦‍♀️. This sent everyone into a panic , that she was on the move .
We did get a camera and food station set up down there, but we also left the trap and camera at home too . And thank goodness we did , because early this morning Snow reappeared at home and walked right into the trap !!!
Congratulations everyone and great job following every little bit of advice I had !

BRAVO K911: UPDATE ON BRAVO ❤️🐾❤️
Today was a big day . We started Bravo’s chemo at 3:00pm today , Chlorambucil . This will be an every other day thing . Most dogs seem to tolerate this drug ok . So we are hoping for the best . He’ll take this along with Prednisone . Which Prednisone happens to not be good for Cushings , actually very bad . 🤦‍♀️So I’m not sure how that will work exactly. I’m guessing Cancer trumps Cushings . Other than this new info , not much has changed . He’s happy , eating , playing , working . Thanx again for all of your donations, thoughts, care and prayer . I tell him everyday how much he’s loved by many and needed here . ❤️❤️❤️

BRAVO K911 : UPDATE ON SADIE ❤️🐾❤️
“ Sadie is doing good!! Her levels are all staying stable and normal, besides her blood pressure . It’s not dangerously low but when taken off the meds it has gotten low so for now they are keeping her on the meds. She is taking the feeding tube amazing and has been eating a liquid nutrient “food” Monday they will be moving her from the ER to internal medicine .It’s in the same hospital and I should be able to see her then! She said to bring her favorite food .The Dr. put some baby food on her hand and Sadie licked it, she wasn’t eating it but she licked it. She said she has done really great over the past 24 hours and is definitely fighting and staying strong.”

Sadie is stable at the moment and is on 24 hour care at the vet. She’s receiving fluids, feeding tube, blood transfusion and antibiotics. She’s handling everything well and as long as this continues , we hope she makes a full recovery .

BRAVO K911 : BRAVO UPDATE : CANCER SUCKS!!!
So no one was more suprised than the Vet Specialists at NCSU … but mystery partly solved. The cancer IS IN THE BONE MARROW 😥. Very glad I opted to let them do that test . What does this all mean ????
Well from what I gather from the 10 min phone call I just had , it’s like a chronic Leukemia. He will need chemo . A pill every other day, that the vet says most dogs tolerate very well with not many side effects at all. Normally Pred given too , but during all this mess he has been diagnosed with Cushings🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Cannot do Pred with Cushings. Just another complication. He will also need blood work ups every 2-4 weeks for quite sometime. The best thing I can say…. Is that we know what we are dealing with now and the prognosis is most patients do ok for up to 2 years or more . His case is still so rare and symptoms not what one would expect , that we will just have to take it one day at a time. Right now I’d say he’s SURVIVING & THRIVING ! ❤️🐾❤️
Thanks again in for all of your kind words , thoughts , prayers and donations for my boy during this roller coaster of a few months ❤️🐾🙏🏻🐾❤️

BRAVO K911: UPDATE AFTER BRAVO’s NCSU TESTS:
We are stuck in the car because it’s raining too hard to get out. Sooooo I thought I’d post what we just found out . BRAVO’s ULTRASOUND IS CLEAR , The CHEST X-RAY is CLEAR . The Bone Marrow report will not be back until tomorrow. So as long as that is clear, basically they are saying he has Lymphoma but they cannot find any . So to me THAT IS THE BEST NEWS! I’m still in hopes that when they took the Spleen ,they took all the cancer with it . The doctor’s do not think that is likely and say no telling when this indolent lymphoma will rare its ugly head again , but for now … IT’S GONE !!! NO TREATMENT ! They will see him in 3 months for another ultrasound and blood work .
I’m going to continue the cancer diet I put him on and the holistic meds too . So keep the prayers and good vibes coming for clean Bone Marrow tomorrow. Tonight we relax , we are grateful and we will be watching lots of friends at Westminster!

BRAVO K911: Update on Bravo …
8:30 am just dropped him off at NCSU vet school. He’s having his first chest x ray , bone marrow and another ultrasound. They are pretty much starting over. The new slides are in that the Vet School did , but I have no idea what they say .
Broke my heart this morning . Bravo put the brakes on and would not walk back with the nurses. I had to go with him and felt horrible leaving him .

(Balynda Brown) ***MARLOWE was actually found maybe 300 yards up a steep cliff from where she ran up the hill. When Chris got eyes on Marlowe I was able to do some coaching by phone and when I pulled over on the side of Highway 25 min later , the same first responders were there and loading Marlowe into the car . She is tired and sore and feet are all cut up , but she and her daddy will be just fine !!! Thank you to LARG for your posters and support and thank you to Carmen Brothers for all of the great coaching you gave to this family . And thank you to Bravo for taking this journey with me .

Calling all Auto Accident Angels (AAA) The accident happened on March 8, 2020 ~ in West Virginia on I-79 near Sutton in Braxton county ~ during the accident she was able to exit the vehicle and is now lost in the vicinity of mile maker 59. Her name is “Marlowe” ~ Marlowe is a female ~ Golden retriever, She is very friendly and will approach strangers. I’m sure she is very scared and is missing her family. FOUND - Professional Pet Trackers

Virginia Beach, VA - Lexie is finally home! Missing 55 days in First Landing State Park and traveling well over 25 miles throughout her journey she was finally able to be trapped on 77th Street, right outside of the park! Team Lexie had a large group including Carmen & K9 Magic, Balynda & K9 Bravo and the very dedicated team lead Paula Callahan Backus! Several tracks, hundreds of flyers, and many trapping attempts finally paid off to help bring this girl home! Welcome home Lexie!

The second track is yesterday’s Cat search ! LOL! That cat was everywhere . Run hide , run hide , run hide ... it was only 6 houses away .
*** Bravo actually found 2 cats on this search . One has already been trapped over night and taken to vet for checkup and chip scan ! ***

This is Buddy . Lost 11/17/19 in Greensboro . Bravo has been out 3x and found scent and direction all 3x .
The last time was 12/6/19 and we had an amazing trail. We started from a potential sighting in an area we had not been . Bravo tracked all thru downtown with just horrible distractions and was UNBELIEVABLY able to track right back to the exact door that Buddy escaped from on 12/17 at the Vet Hospital! Wow ! Good boy Bravo .
Buddy is still out there and has potentially made it back to POE and closer to home . ❤️🐾❤️

What worked to get Jude home : BRAVO 🙂 , Posters fliers ( especially to pizza 🍕 delivery places ) LiquId Smoke and MAGNET DOGS !!!
This was not an ideal place to be lost in or to trail in . Jude was making about a 3 mile loop in 36 hours and crossing super busy roads numerous times . The red line is Bravo Trailing Jude
