The next few days will be NASTY cold. Keep in mind that our pets will require very limited time outside for potty breaks as hypothermia and other damaging injuries can happen quickly in extreme cold. Think warm thoughts, Patch fam! ❄️☃️🙀🐾🥶🧊

Some more safety tips from pet loving friends 🐾

Just because the pawlidays are over, doesn’t mean that winter pet emergencies aren’t still here! Keep an eye out for:

❄️Chilly weather conditions can pose a risk of hypothermia, so make sure to limit your furry friends' time outside.
❄️Antifreeze, though highly toxic, has a sweet taste that can attract cats & dogs. Be sure to store it out of their reach.
❄️To avoid human emergencies of slipping on ice, there is an accumulation of salt on the sidewalks, but this can irritate our pet’s paws so make sure to keep an eye on them for any redness or tenderness.

In these cold, dry, snowy and did I mention COLD, days, it’s extremely important to care for our pets paw pads after they venture outside. Just as we put moisturizers on our skin, dogs and such need care too. Excessive licking of the paws could be a sign of salt stuck. Vomiting is a sign they’ve ingested it and are experiencing stomach issues like raised sodium levels.
Lots of ointments out there, I’m happy to suggest my faves.
