I’ve had some reach out about the status of the buns.

There are 4 adoptables left.

Heavy VM lilac doe 10.12.21
Heavy VM opal doe 10.12.20
Heavy VM harlequin buck 9.8.21
Heavy VM chocolate harlequin doe 11.27.21

All are pedigreed but some will not go with their’s unless discussed. The Heavy VM opal will NOT go with hers as she should never, ever be bred. She doesn’t labor on time and has stuck kits (4 litters and only 2 survivors that were fostered. All others perished before delivery). She will make a lovely pet.

The Loppery is located within 25 miles of Omaha, Nebraska along the Missouri river. All brood lops are pedigreed. ARBA registered.

It comes in waves.

I think God is telling me there is a reason I did this and it’s ok to close the chapter knowing so many of my rabbits have brought love and happiness to others.

Definitely one of my all time favorite buns! Monkey came as an organic name. No clue how or why but his adopter kept it.

💙💙💙

Y’all, your breeder selection matters. Remember that. There are many trash breeders and there are many good ones that put the time in. The time matters. There is no substitute.

Y’all are making this closing the rabbitry thing a little difficult! 😢

Little Cheeto was quite the fighter. Born to a doe that didn’t labor on time, had a 4 day long delivery of dead kits, and then Cheeto came, somehow fell out of the cage about 3 feet high and laid there on the floor for a few hours before I came back in the room to check her and noticed him. The rush to warm him up and put him with a seasoned doe who happened to have had a singleton two weeks prior. She kept his belly full and he flourished. Now, he’s out there bringing joy to his family.

I adore this!💙

I received a rather disappointing message today.

An FYI that “one of your rabbits” has been given to my “rescue”.

When I looked at the picture of the person who messaged I knew they looked familiar. When rethinking it, it clicked that this person, who very conveniently is now posing as a “rescue” is a tirekicker that I blocked a long time ago. She repeatedly contacted me about my rabbits but never adopted so I moved on because I don’t allow people to waste my time.

Now, it appears a less than bright adopter has given this lady and her “rescue” my rabbit WITH HER PEDIGREE.

Folks, no rescue needs or should want a pedigree. Ask yourself why would they? Now, this poor rabbit will likely be bred until she dies because this lady claims she’s now a rescue and landed a pedigreed rabbit and the person who surrendered her GAVE HER THE PEDIGREE.

Yes, I know folks breed without a pedigree but the pedigree makes it more likely knowing this “rescue lady” had inquired NUMEROUS times about my rabbits.

Beware of fake “rescues” and those posing as such. Clue one- asking for the pedigree. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Interestingly enough, when I tried to respond to the message Facebook notified me they “couldn’t send” the message twice. 🙄

The adopter never contacted me prior to giving the rabbit away either.

Use your brain, folks. Even if it’s small and inadequate.

I say this in response to people who ask me if my rabbits are “good with kids”. Not surprisingly, most get offended. Oh well, that just means you aren’t someone I want with one of my buns. It’s irrational to expect any animal to know how to interact with kids. Educate your children on how to approach and treat animals, regardless of what kind of animal. 🤷‍♀️

I get messages asking me about personalities of the rabbits I have left for adoption.

This is your girl if you’re wanting a pet or breeder that really loves your attention. She will literally lay there expecting more and more pets. Always at the cage door greeting me. She arrived here very, veryyyy ill when I took her off the transport van. The first month was very touchy and I spent time with her daily- meds, cleaning her up, and just loving on her. Needless to say, she grew accustomed to it and now expects it.

She is a DOLL. Not to mention a beauty.

She’s on the website.

If this smoke pearl doe doesn’t get adopted I’m going to be tempted to breed her. My favorite holland color and I’ve only owned two!

She’s now breeding age. ❤️ I’ll post updated pictures of her soon. Her head has started to pop.

Chocolate fox holland girl, Honey, in her new home. Apparently she hated the cage so she got a playpen instead and the princess approves. She's such a diva.

Facebook messenger has its issues. Especially on pages. If you message and I don't respond, there are a couple reasons why. It either won't let me reply or it has gone to a different folder [my page has three boxes since the last messenger update]. Other times, it will notify me of a message and I'll go to look and there is nothing there.

I don't control Facebook. If I did, it would be a completely different platform!

All available rabbits are on my website Www.loppery.com

I love when someone comes to pick up their bunny and there is nothing but pure excitement on their face like they have been waiting for this moment for years. I especially like it when that look comes from an adult. 🤓 so cute.

Good Sunday morning,

All transports must now be approved BEFORE adopting a rabbit. This has always been listed on my website but I haven't enforced it. I have decided I can no longer be at the mercy of whimsical changes so if any adopter needs to use transportation they will be required to get pre-approval from me.

I apologize for the inconveniences this causes as I know transport is necessary for many, and was for me when I had my rabbitry, but [like many] I have a life, a career, and a family to care for. I am no longer able to simply cancel my life plans for the unlimited number of changes that occur for some.

Enjoy what you can of the day!

I have moved most of the empty cages to the detached garage for storage. Sad but welcomed times!

With closing the rabbitry, I have experienced some things that most breeders do and I let a lot of it roll but one thing I have determined I will not entertain anymore is haggling.

If you contact me in an attempt to haggle the price of adoption, I will simply no longer respond. While pet folks have their own challenges, it especially irritates me when breeders so this. IF you are providing good care to your herd then you KNOW the expenses that go along with it. Don't insult me. The rabbitry is closing as I foresee what is coming in my personal future, not because I need them out tomorrow without any concern for their wellbeing. They will each be here until their homes are found. And they will continue to receive the best care until they leave.

If you can't afford to adopt one, then you shouldn't be adopting one. Rather than haggling me about it, evaluate your own situation and come up with ways to improve it or accept that it isn't a good time for you to add another animal.

What adds to the annoyance is that most times, when I entertain the message and attempt to work with them on a compromise, they end up ghosting anyway. I have decided that I simply won't engage with the idea anymore.

I feel the website fees are fair based on confirmation, pattern/color, and difficulty to locate in some [I think there are only two on the website where I factored this in].

This isn't a car dealership and I'm not a salesperson.

After this weekend we will be down to 10! Feels so empty around here! It is a very weird and emotional process for me but it is necessary and I will enjoy the time I have left with each of them. ❤️

Y'all, I have been working on saving a rabbit for 3 days. Mucoid enteritis....almost can never save those. After two different meds, some gas drops, a lot of tummy massaging, and dripping water into her mouth....I woke up to her eating for the first time in 72 hours. I'll be pumping her full of hay for the next week or so.

I can honestly say I won't miss this. While I enjoy seeing my work pay off I will never miss spending hours trying to save a rabbit that appears to simply want to die on me. 😀 rabbit breeders know what I mean.....dwarf rabbits sometimes just seem to want to die on you!

Whew!

Just a reminder that regardless of the reason you wish to adopt a rabbit, my rabbitry is a closed operation. I will never, ever allow you to come "pick out" or "see" the rabbits.

Rabbits are not like kittens and puppies. They are not vaccinated and highly sensitive animals. Furthermore, with rhdv2 cases rising again I will protect all of them before I allow someone to "come by" to possibly find a home for one.

Until my doors close they are all still mine. My home. My property. My animals.

My property is not a window shopping opportunity or a petting zoo.

I understand this doesn't align with everyone's beliefs and I respect that. Those who disagree won't have an issue finding a rabbit elsewhere and I wish those folks all the luck.

Please ,do not send me messages asking to come by. The answer will always be no.

Patchi always "honks" at me when I come to his cage. He wants attention. He loves his head rubbed. He's on our website Www.loppery.com

Each rabbit has a different timeline for trust building, which is something all adopters need to remember....however, I have held, cared for, fed, cleaned, talked to, and interacted with this animal for 10 months. He knows I'm his pal. 💙

Transport....

I feel an obligation to post this as some are unknowingly navigating these waters. With what I've observed some "transports" pulling lately [which is theft/fraud], I encourage all adopters who use transport to put it on a credit card instead of paying with your bank. Your credit card company will give you the money back as soon as you file a dispute and simply reverse the charge, therefore taking it back from the transport account. If someone cancels a run, you 100% deserve a refund in a prompt manner. Did they wait for you to pay for your spot? No. It was due when you booked it. They should refund in a reasonable manner. If they file "bankruptcy" but continue to post routes to get people to book with them just to cancel and tell them to "talk to their lawyer" about a refund, your credit card company will take that back too.

Use your credit card for this stuff. If you don't have one, I highly encourage you to get one. You can link it to your PayPal and hey, some credit card companies offer cash back for PayPal so you really aren't even paying any extra fees. You can also link it to other payment apps.

Everyone should be reasonable but don't allow yourself to be conned, mistreated, or outright robbed by anyone.

Protect yourself!

Reposting this as it is still a very present issue in the rabbit world.....buyer beware.

At times, I make posts about controversial things in an effort to inform potential rabbit owners/breeders. This is one of those times. I realize some folks may be bothered by this.

There is no such thing as a rabbit "carrying" for heavy vienna. Heavy vienna patterns are the result of modifiers. It is NOT a different locus on the genotype. Every single vienna rabbit is Vv or vv [blue eyed white]. There is no "Vv and carries heavy vienna" gene.

Is a rabbit from heavy vienna parents more likely to produce a heavier marked vienna rabbit if bred? You'd think so but it is a complete gamble. When you see something listed as "carries heavy vienna" please just know that it simply doesn't exist. I'm not implying it is intentionally put there to fool you, although some will. I truly believe some just don't know better.

Now, if someone is rehoming a PROVEN rabbit they can show you what they have produced and you can assume they may for you as well but remember that is also matters which rabbit they are bred to.

If you're adding rabbits to your herd for breeding, please be sure to understand what you're seeking.

This post is not meant to offend anyone. I personally know breeders who use this when they post their rabbits. However, I want anyone on my page who is thinking of breeding vienna gene to know the truth and complexity the gene can have.

Think of this concept as blue eyed in humans. Blue eyes may be bright, deep, royal blue. Nonetheless, they are all blue. Vienna may have a speck of white or tons of it. It is still just vienna.

Bunny blessings. 🐰

Up for consideration. This is one I haven't posted before....

Heavy VM lilac doe. Born 10.2021. Never bred.

She's about 3.2 to 3.6 pounds. Very sweet. Video in comments.

Adding in- I do think some on her pedigree are misidentified with pattern, most likely do to vienna masking it, i.e.: otter out of two chocolates [not possible].

This guy will be a year old next month.

He is the only surviving kit of his litter.

It is hard for me to believe he is still here and the kit I have had the longest of any of the litters. He is GORGEOUS. Blue eyes, nice contrasted pattern, great personality and chubby cheeks.

I'd like him to go to a pet home because he has been with me for so long he is used to that care.

Message if interested!

I have decided that this most recently born shaded litter will be our last.

While I enjoy the rabbits, my allergies have gotten out of control. Furthermore, my career and life have gotten busier.

Sad times but I'll be excited to see some GREAT rabbits help other breeders while others become fantastic pet additions. ❤️
