GETTING TO KNOW ME

Sugar is a gorgeous girl but she is so much more than just a pretty face! Sugar is quite the extrovert with a dash of spice for excitement and to keep you on your toes. She can be a BALL OF ENERGY with a strong desire to interact with people.

Sugar eats Orijen 6-fish cat kibble and loves the stainless steel water fountain for fresh water. She has great bathroom habits and uses a large hoodless litter box with unscented scoopable litter.

Looking for a breed known for brains and for beauty? Look no further than the Russian Blue. Known as a very clever cat, these elegant silvery-grey shorthairs have emerald-green eyes that darken with age and radiate with intelligence and an exotic face that appears to be smiling. They are easy to care for, easy to live with, and while they may appear shy at first acquaintance, they quickly blossom into friendly, affectionate companions once they get to know you.

Russian Blues require very little in the way of grooming. Combing two or three times a month will help keep shedding under control and aside from that, you need only keep the claws trimmed and the eyes and ears clean. Occasionally, a coat may become oily or greasy and benefit from a bath.

Every closed cabinet, every shut drawer, even sealed canisters or jars represent a tempting challenge to a Russian Blue; owners should never be surprised to find an unexpectedly open door, drawer or jar. They love stimulating puzzle toys as well as interactive games. However, they are also loving companions.

Best suited to quieter environments, it is typical for a Russian to hide under the sofa when a guest enters the house, but soon its natural curiosity will take over and it will come out to investigate the newcomer.

Sugar will need a cat savvy home. She gives very clear signals when she is feeling over stimulated and can get swatty if you aren't respectful. Touching her tail is a hard no! Leaving her to entertain herself with balls and such won't be enough, she will need human interactive play. When interacting with Sugar, it’s positive reinforcement only! She works well with redirecting swatting with a wand toy.

She will need a single room to start out in, often referred to as "basecamp" with slow introductions and expansion of space at her pace.

Friday Family Update❣️

Nova, aka Super Nova, is making strides in her recovery, enjoying a varied buffet of wet foods. Although she experienced a minor setback when her feeding tube was dislodged, a quick vet visit ensured it was cleaned and resecured. We're eagerly anticipating the day she'll eat independently, freeing her from the feeding tube. In the meantime, she's rocking a stylish makeshift turtleneck. Nova remains snuggly with her kittens, engaged, chatty, and playful, especially with her catnip toy.

The eight kittens are thriving, nearing two weeks old and bringing immense joy with their fluffy, roly-poly antics.

We're grateful for your ongoing support, which has helped us raise $3,400 towards the $8,372.80 incurred during Nova's ER visit and ICU stay.

GETTING TO KNOW ME

Ruby is a loving, snuggling, sweetheart of a girl who will have you melting for her. Ruby LOVES people! She’s a pretty chill girl that just wants to be doted on by people 24/7. She'll follow you around, chatting with you, asking for pets and snuggles. She is deaf and has the funniest meow that she'll use to get your attention and converse with you.

Ruby's ideal home is is one where someone is home much of the time, retired, work from home job or multiple humans to spend time with her and shower her with lots of attention. She will thrive being part of a family that includes her in daily life, an older kid or two that are respectful of cats would be fine. If you have a dog that would ignore her or a cat that is really sweet and relaxed, that might be okay. She'd also be fine as an only cat. Having only one human who works full-time out of the house isn’t a fit for her. In the event you’re looking for a work from home assistant, Ruby is your girl! Not gonna lie, she really, really likes to sleep at night in bed with people.

Being a flat-faced girl, she’ll need the usual eye cleaning. Typical of her breed, she should have regular combing to maintain her luxurious coat . Trimming back nails isn’t a problem, she’s just a bit wiggly.

Ruby came to us with her front paws declawed and we did our best to minimize the pain with a declaw repair, so her toes weren't curled under. That being said she will sometimes limp just like a human with a joint injury. She is great with her litter box but will need at least one senior litter box per floor of the home(she can't be expected to run from a first or second floor to a basement), with no top and a very low front so it's easier for her to get in and out. Her box is scooped multiple times a day and a washable puppy pad is in front of her box in the event her back side is hanging over the entrance to the litter box. She uses a lightweight unscented litter so it's easier on her feet such as World's Best or PetsMart Grass Seed scoopable litter. She is schedule fed Fancy Feast or Weruva canned food for breakfast and dinner and eats off a flat plate to accommodate her flat face and whiskers. Schedule feeding is best for her feet because it keeps her at a healthy weight. She uses a stainless water fountain for clean, fresh water.

Starting out in a bedroom or home office as basecamp with introductions and access to the home should be at a speed acceptable and safe for Ruby and other pets in the home.

Update on our resilient Eight is Enough family!

Momma Nova, aka Super Nova, has taken a significant step forward, starting to enjoy her delicious Weruva food. Although her feeding tube will remain in place until we're confident she's consuming sufficient calories, this progress is a testament to her super strength.

The eight babies, being hand-raised since birth, are thriving under our care, gaining weight and reaching typical milestones for 10-day-old kittens.

We're grateful for your ongoing support, which has helped us raise $3,250 towards the $8,372.80 incurred during Nova's 4-day ER and ICU stay.

Because rescue never sleeps, PurrHarmony would like to welcome these 8 lovely ragdoll kittens to our FIP treatment program(84days of treatment, 84days of observation).

*The treatment protocol is 6mo. When they are ready each will have their own personalized bio posted. Potential adopters can read that to see if the kitten/cat might be a good fit for their home. Life is lived in the moments…our gentle Maine C**n family is getting stronger by the moment. Taking this moment to share their update sends us awash in the smells and the sounds of littles, putting on pause the rest of the world.

Nova and her babies take our breaths away. It’s already been 6 days that momma landed in an ER and given little chance. But lo and behold, 7 days and 8 kittens later, here they are.

Babies must be bottle fed and stimulated every 2 hours and momma is also receiving a lot of supportive care. Sleep is a premium for the foster care givers.

We have much to revel in and be grateful for. The 2 ER bills amounted to several thousand less than estimated with a final total of $8372.80. Your generosity has garnered $2725 thus far. We could not be more thankful.

PurrHarmony will continue to provide updates. The road ahead is long but we are no strangers to endurance and persistence.

It’s a box o’ kittens! Eight purebred Maine C**n kittens and their sweet momma Nova are doing very well in the ICU. With the expertise of a caring group of specialists, Nova’s heart issues are resolving. The addition of GS45 for her FIP has helped her back on her feet. She isn’t able to feed her babies but otherwise is a doting momma.

We remain cautiously optimistic and hope to have the new family join a foster mom soon.

We are in it for the long haul and truly need your financial support.

We can’t plan for this type of emergency but we always plan to save lives.

We are desperately in need of your financial support.

Wow, it’s been a wild 4 days! We had an emergency surrender Friday evening at a veterinary ER.

Nova was a very pregnant Maine C**n diagnosed with congestive heart failure and suspected FIP. Diagnostics revealed 8 kittens who were also starting to fail. She was surrendered to us and we had to try!

The ER could offer little beyond stabilizing her with oxygen and lasix. Saturday morning Nova was transferred to the unparalleled experts at Veterinary Specialty Center in Bannockburn, Illinois. She was greeted by a team of medical professionals who immediately placed Nova in an oxygen chamber, continued lasix and added the GS medication to treat FIP.

Updates throughout the weekend were encouraging. Her 8 unborn kittens were stronger and Nova was no longer in congestive heart failure.

Today (Monday) a certified cardiologist conducted an echocardiogram and the doctor saw no concerns. But then….Nova went into labor. We were grateful she was in the ICU with amazing care because baby one was large and backwards. Nova and her babies stood no chance without an emergency c-section. Following the c-section, Nova received a spay and a feeding tube.

Our new family is in ICU receiving optimal care. They’ll likely remain in the ICU for an additional 48 hours to ensure Nova can breathe on her own.

We can’t plan for this type of emergency but we always plan to save lives.

Check out those peepers!!! Our boy Phoenix just got a fancy new eyelid makeover known as entropian surgery on his lower lids. Those purple sutures are kinda cute, but, they're coming out in 10-14 days.

GETTING TO KNOW THEODEN

I bet you can't take your eyes off Theoden with his crazy looking, luxurious hair. It's soft, wavy, bouncy and the unique color combo of white and Lilac. Nope not grey, LILAC! Lilac hair has a pinkish purple hue to it as does the nose leather and paw pads. He enjoys downtime here and there but is super playful and sounds like he's practicing his parkour skills throughout the day and night! He'd like a play-filled life where he can indulge in climbing cat trees and ladders to look down on his kingdom and watch wildlife through the windows. A cracked open window for a snoot full of air will cause his nose to lift slightly to take in all the scents. He's quite the conversationalist and will share his opinions on your music and netflix choices. If he can't find you he will meow till you call him. He's a fan of neck scritches and is a master at elevator butt.

When he first joined us, he was insecure, shy and avoided any interaction and just watched from across the room. We took it slow and went at his pace to build his self confidence and earn his trust. He is so worth the time! Now that he's comfortable, he'll run to meet us at the foster room door.

Theoden is looking for a cat savvy family with one or more adults that are working from home, or home more than away. Please, no kids, has never seen dogs. With Cats he’s selective with who he likes. If you have that special zen cat he might be okay with slow introductions . Experience with shy cats is a must or at minimum a commitment to researching and putting into practice the tools and suggestions offered by Jackson Galaxy or Pam Bennett. Both are highly respected feline behaviorists with a large library of written and video training content on connecting with shy cats. Wand toys, Churus and crunchy greenie cat treats are great tools to extend the olive branch and connect with him. He will get overstimulated if pushed fast but will give clear signals to slow down. Once comfortable Theoden will let you start petting him while eating and the interactions just get better with time.

Selkirk Rex are the original “bad hair day” kitties because of the random little ringlets that go every which way, individual curls, and luxurious dreadlocks. This coat demands to be felt and played with! A hair pick can be helpful in separating large clumps of curls or a wide tooth metal comb to care for the Selkirk Rex coat. Simply use your fingers in a gentle scratching motion to fluff up the curls and you’ll be able to keep the coat looking its best while making your cat very happy. These cats do not mat easily, but combing weekly is recommended to remove dead hair and ensure that mats do not form.

Theoden has perfect bathroom habits and currently uses two very large open top litter boxes(he is a big boy and needs the bathroom spacious) with unscented scoopable litter. He eats Honest Kitchen freeze dried/rehydrated food for breakfast and dinner and eats off a flat bowl/plate to accommodate his flat face and whiskers. He's currently enjoying water out of stainless water fountain which stays cleaner than a bowl.

Starting out in a room as basecamp with slow introductions and access to the home so he doesn't feel overwhelmed is highly recommended.

Going in this week for spays and basic vetting are our two FIP Maine C**n girls, Elizabeth-Torti and Francesca-silver (currently in 84 days of FIP observation), Ragdoll Poppy-lynxpoint (in FIP treatment), and Ragdoll Aurora seal point. Since FIP protocol is 84 days of treatment followed by 84 days of observation, they won’t be ready for adoption for a while yet.

If you could help support their medical care this week, which will be around $1200.00, we’d greatly appreciate it.

ANGELS ARE OFTEN DISGUISED AS ADOPTERS If you’ve been following Colette’s story, then we have a surprise for you. After spending a year and seven months in palliative foster care for a life-limiting heart condition, Colette caught the eye of an adopter who also happens to be a veterinarian! We weren’t actively looking for a home for Colette so this took us by surprise as well, but we couldn’t deny the perfect fit this was for Colette. On August 28, Colette finally got her very own family which consists of two adult humans, a human sister and two furry siblings the same age! Colette is living her best life and we couldn’t possibly have asked for more if we tried!

CHECKING IN ON THE SPHYNX BOYS— ***ANNOUNCEMENT*** PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT ACCEPT, PROCESS OR PREAPPROVE APPLICATIONS. Grogu and Yoda will go to the vet tomorrow for their first official checkups, weigh-ins and first vaccinations. Both boys eat like gremlins, consuming three 5-ounce cans EACH of Royal Canin Babycat food per day! They never stop moving and burning calories!

Hansel our Brit kitten is doing great with fip treatment. Medication and veterinary care will cost $2,500.00 but he’s so worth it. Can you sponsor some of his care with a donation or a share? 💕Hansel Fip Update💕 (7month old, Blue cream tabby, British Shorthair) Share this post, please. Let’s save more cats. We’re in this together. 84 days of Fip Treatment 39 days down 🙌 45 to go Then the 84 observation period. Next week it’ll be a blood test to check the all important values. At day 30 we switched from injections to pills! Boy, was he feeling better because even with gabapentin to take off the edge, he was kicking, flipping, twisting, turning and screaming feline profanity at injection time. Now with Churu and pills there is no dread for either of us❤️ Fip is no longer a death sentence!! Can you help cover his meds and testing? It’s about $2500.00 to treat because he’s getting a double dose because of neuro symptoms. If you’ve got questions, we’d love to chat!
