is hosting a FREE microchip clinic at Animal House this Sunday, June 30th from 9am-12p.

* Must live in Jefferson County to receive services at this clinic.

Microchipping is beneficial because it helps reunite lost and/or stolen pets with their owners. Microchips are implantable computer chips that are no larger than a grain of rice and are placed under a pet’s skin with a needle and syringe. They permanently identify the pet and can’t break or fall off, unlike collars and ID tags. When a pet is lost, the microchip’s encoded identification number is transmitted back to the scanner, allowing the owner to contact the pet’s vet.

Summer time has arrived! Temperatures are going to be in the 90’s, and these are the conditions that could lead to heat stroke for our beloved pets. Be sure to take precautions to keep your pet safe and healthy. Heat stroke is no joke!

I’ve been so consumed with life that I forgot yesterday was my four year anniversary of being the Crazy Dog Lady! I’ve put my literal blood, sweat, tears, and sometimes my sanity into this. I am extremely grateful to have made it this far.

I get overwhelmed with emotion when I reflect on these last four years. There has been a grate deal of challenges to overcome. This year being the hardest. I have grown so much and so many things have changed. I’ve made some new friends 🐶 and lost some 🥺🌈 I’ve met clients that have become more like friends and family. And I have met countless pet professionals that have been kind and willing to pour into me.

I am beyond humbled for you alls support, for without it, I wouldn’t be here today.

Here’s to another year of growth and success 🧡🎉🐾

Axel is ready for his new life! He was recently rehomed and was in desperate need of a good groom.

He is the sweetest pup and I could tell he felt so much better with all of that coat off of him 🧡

* Even mild matting can cause your pet a great deal of pain. Matting can cut off blood supply to extremities, and can restrict regular air circulation. Skin denied fresh air and stimulation from regular brushing can become unhealthy.

Nail trims with the Harless pack 🥰 I’ve been servicing these pups since 2020, and now it’s like going visit family when I go to see them.

Proper nail care is essential to your pets overall health. Overgrown nails are EXTREMELY uncomfortable for dogs. When your dog’s nail hit the ground constantly, it puts more pressure on the nail bed (imagine wearing tennis shoes and your toenails are too long. Ouch!). The pressure is likely to cause discomfort to your dog, causing them to distribute their weight differently to try and alleviate the pain, which can affect the way the toe and paw joints are aligned, potentially leading to arthritis.

Nails should be trimmed, on average every 4-6 weeks. In cases where the nails are already overgrown, they will likely need to be trimmed more frequently until they are at a healthy length.

Scheduled your pup’s Mobile Nail Trim today!

Short coat dogs deserve to be pampered too! Bane got a deshedding treatment to help with his shedding.

While a deshedding treatment is highly effective, there are other ways to help keep your pups shedding to a minimum.

• Incorporate omega fatty acids into your pets diet. Some great options that are dog friendly is salmon oil and coconut oil.

• Get your pet on a consistent brushing schedule. If your pet does not like being brushed, you can break up your brushing up into 1 minute sessions with lots of praise and high value treats. You will gradually increase the time as your pet becomes more comfortable and confident

• Bathe your pet regularly using shampoo AND conditioner. While shampoo cleanses the skin and coat, conditioner helps keep the skin and coat moisturized, which will lead to less breakage, which leads to less shedding.

Last week I had to say goodbye to my sweet lover boy, H***h. 14 1/2 years of the most genuine love, companionship, and the best cuddles. H***h was with me through the pits of my lows, and the peaks of my highs, and he loved me through it all. Some of life’s best memories include him. H***h not only brought so much joy to my life, but everyone he met. Even people who don’t like dogs, loved my H***hie. He was an incredibly special boy.

I miss him with every breath I take. Having to create a new normal has been difficult. My whole world revolved around H***h. He was more than a pet; he was my best friend, my son, my angel, and forever my soul dog. I’ll love him for the rest of my days. RIP H***h 🧡🥺🌈

Owner and founder Arie Smith

I started Crazy Dog Lady to fulfill my purpose here on Earth; to give genuine love, care and service to those four-legged heroes in our lives.

I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life. In fact, there was a period of time in my youth when I insisted on drink my water from a bowl, like a dog. That childish obsession has been nurtured and has matured into my passion.

Our mission at Crazy Dog Lady is to provide top notch, reliable and flexible services for todays’ business professionals. We’re here to alleviate the challenges that arise when balancing your life and the needs of your furry family member(s). We welcome all breeds, sizes and temperaments.

Along with lifetime of personal experience, I have also volunteered for Tyson’s Chance, which is a privately owned and funded rescue in my home state of Kentucky, that’s known for rescuing animals with medical cases and behavioral and social issues. This is where I gained a lot of my knowledge and experience with dogs that have faced adversity and their journey to rehabilitation.
