What are some things you’re doing for your wellness? A study by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, found more than 26 per cent of Canadian veterinarians had thoughts of su***de over a 12-month period. The daily stress veterinarians feel as caregivers experiencing pain and grief from their patients can often lead to compassion fatigue. Caring for yourself is critical to your overall wellness. Here are some strategies you can use today:

1. Make time for yourself
2. Engage in mindfulness or meditation
3. Build a support network (have a community to
celebrate & share sorrows with)
4. Take regular breaks for rest & recovery

Did you know that women practice owners are projected to overtake men within a decade? It’s an exciting and long overdue shift in the industry that we’re excited about. We’re not interested in contributing to an old boy’s club mentality. We love that our clients are diverse.

Men currently make up the majority of private practice owners, but the percentage of women owners is increasing, shifting from 29% in 2007 to 41% in 2019. By 2028, the majority of U.S. practice owners will be women. How exciting!

If you know a vet, there's a good chance that they are also a pet owner.

Vets are animal lovers so it's no surprise that many vets have pets of their own, but due to their rigorous work schedule and long hours at the clinic, they spend a lot more time with animals that aren’t their own.

When it comes to deciding whether to sell your practice or not, the desire to achieve the elusive work life balance comes into play. Selling can mean more time spent with your loved ones (including the furry ones).

Remember, the best part of success and hard work is the opportunity to enjoy it.
