Do you know the hard-working people and board members behind the care of our wonderful animals and those who just make PCAR possible? Let us introduce ourselves:
Rhonda Strong is our Director (President) and Treasurer. She is the back bone to the organization and main caretaker. She cares for the animals daily, runs intake and adoptions, manages financies and donations, and so much more. Jessie Melton DVM is the Director of Veterinary Care. As a licensed veterinarian she oversees the health of our animals. This includes vaccinating, helping with spaying/neutering, exams, and treatment for medical cases that come in or may occur in shelter. Megan Batt holds the Secretary position on our board. She works as a veterinary technician and helps with vaccines and giving medications. She also helps transport animals to the vet and grooming if needed. Karen Orozco is one of our board members. She helps a lot with our cats. She transports cats to get spayed/neutered to PEP in Bland. She also helps with general care of our animals and helps with taking pictures. PCAR works closely with her non-profit Starlit Strays to help with feral cat cases. Savannah Orozco another one of our board members is responsible for all the fantastic photos of our adoptable animals. She also helps manage our social media accounts. Derek Reynolds is the last of our board members. He has animal care experience, working as a veterinarian technician. Then we have our group of volunteers that have made such a difference in these animal’s life. These include Aaron Batt, David Strong, Lauren, Nancy, Clancy Ray, KJ Stevenson, and Melanie Dent. And we can’t forget local groups that have given so much help and support such as Dr. Chitwood at St. James Veterinary Medical Center and Cub Creek Science Camp. Thank you to all that have supported us through volunteering, donations, and of course through adoptions. We hope to continue helping animals find safe and loving homes!

Meet Denali!!

She is a 2 year old border collie/ Heeler mix. She loves everyone and gets along with other dogs. She would make a wonderful dog for an active family or a farm dog. She seems to be housetrained and have some manners once she calms after coming out of kennel.

She is spayed, dewormed, current flea/tick/heartworm prevention, heartworm tested, vaccinated and microchipped.

I am so surprised this two are still here. They are the sweetest dogs. Everyone always begs for small dogs and these two check off all the boxes!

Meet Lilly and Freddy!!

They are bonded and MUST be adopted as a pair.

Lilly born 5-13-24 and Freddy born 3-10-22. They are full blooded Papillons. They have the sweetest personalities. He takes a little longer to warm up during scary situations (like a shelter). Their favorite place is on your lap. They both get along with other dogs. They show signs of being housebroken.

They will be spay/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

We had a very special donation yesterday. It was 12 $1 bills but it warmed my heart. It was from a 6 year old little girl that last yr we found her kitty and was able to keep her safe until they could come and get her.

Many in town have been without electric all day with the possibility of it lasting throughout the night.
If your without and need a warm place for your pet to stay overnight so you can get someplace warm, please send us a message. We have limited space but we will bring in crates with blankets or whatever is needed to keep your fur baby safe.

If interested in a kitten, please go to preadopt photo album and check them out. Then complwte an application. Remember kittens under 5 months must be adopted in pairs. We only hold if paperwork and adoption fee have been paid!!

We have so many more needing a space but can not help more till our numbers are drastically reduced.

Everyone is completely vetted, spay/neuter, microchipped before adoption.
All large/medium breed dogs adoption fee is $50 until end of month!!!

We update this album daily with all of our dogs and puppies that are currently available for adoption.

DOG OF THE DAY!!

Meet Honey. She is a gorgeous Beagle mix. She loves everyone and gets along with other dogs. She loves to be with people. She was pretty hyper when she first came in but over the past few weeks has settled down and become a chill girl. She would love a home with some kids to play with or someone with a fenced in back yard.

She is spayed, dewormed, current flea/tick/heartworm prevention, vaccinated and microchipped.

DOG OF THE DAY!!

Is such a sweet soul and he is struggling bad being in a shelter. He just sits in his kennel with his head hung. He doesn't want to come back in after playtime. He rather be out in freezing cold (which we will not allow for him to stay there.). He gets along with other dogs, kids, people. He is housebroken.

Meet Lark!!

She is a 3-4 year old lab/American pittbull. She came in with Laser. I just can not begin to say how sweet and loving this girl is. She loves attention. She will just come sit next to me in her kennel and give me love. She deserves a forever home where she is loved and treated like the princess that she truly is. She loves attention, cuddles, belly rubs and walks. She gets along with other dogs but be best to separate for meals. She seems to be housebroken, knows down and sit.

Our Board

We came together to make a difference for the animals in our community. Our group includes many that are knowledgeable in animals, business, and taxes.

Gene Matlock, President: He has been involved in other nonprofit organizations, construction and helped get many small businesses started up.

Rhonda Strong, Vice President, Treasurer, and Shelter Director: She is an accountant and enrolled agent with the IRS. She has worked at a no kill shelter for 4 years in the past and will be running the day to day of the shelter.

Megan Smith, Secretary: She is currently a vet tech. She volunteered/worked at a no kill shelter for 7 years, worked at a dog boarding facility in Australia, and worked with the animals at Cub Creek for 8 years. She will be volunteering at the shelter and along with Dr. Melton in charge of training new volunteers.
