As these projects start rolling I get to reflect where this all started in my backyard. Working 100 hours a week 40 for CDCR and 60 for this business. Getting the keys to the facility learning how to drive construction equipment and build things. Hugging the greenhouse and praying at 2am that it doesn’t blow away during my first storm. The people. I’ve met, my mentors and sharing my story with. I never thought I would farm Growing up if you knew me, I was headed in the direction and wanted to be famous and sing and dance and act and model… music still fills my soul and I’m going to incorporate it in, “ Microgreens and Music” Yet I love farming and connecting with the community and teaching the next generation and my children how to do the same, it fills my heart. Trust me I’ve missed out on a lot of time from my family and my friends but I thank each and everyone of you for understanding and thank you for coming on this journey with me….

Companion Farms is a small urban farm that grows microgreens, sprouts and edible flowers in the Greater Sacramento area.

The original story behind Companion Farms began many years ago when co-founder Jose Perez’s grandfather “Buddy” was diagnosed with cancer.

Buddy began searching for foods with anti-cancer-fighting compounds and stumbled upon the power of broccoli sprouts. 🥦💪After his discovery, he shared his newfound love of healthy eating for the next 25 years. As a tribute to his legacy, Buddy's grandson Jose Perez teamed up with his best friend Pierre James and founded Companion Farms. 🤩🤩

Posted • Rain or shine the market is happening!! And it looks like it’s going to rain this Saturday, let’s bring out those rain jackets and come out to support our amazing market vendors at Robinson Plaza & Union Street in historic downtown Nevada City, 8:30am - 1pm.

And this week we have Artisan Lavinia Bread and Feeding Crane back at the market!

🎶 No live music this week because of rain.. but we will have music again when the weather is dryer..

2023-2024 is going to be a big expansion so excited 30x60 Greenhouse for Microgreens going to convert the current 30x40 Greenhouse for Succulents Starter Plants and Carnivorous Plants (2) 20x40 Greenhouses for Starter Trees a 20 x40 Storage for supplies 8x24 air conditioned storage for seeds 10x10 cold storage an office stainless steel tables ice machine germination area ughhhh I can’t wait until I get the goats and chickens !!!

Looking back….. we have came along way since April 2020!! 400 sq ft in the backyard to a 2600 sq ft warehouse , 1200 sq ft greenhouse and two more 400 sq ft greenhouses for starters and flowers!!! Cant wait to add in quails chickens and rows of mixed salad greens and various other vegetables and fruits!!!! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
