Training Tip Tuesday 🤓

Let's normalize taking our dogs for a sniff! 🐕 👃

Im sure you've heard the buzz words,

"Let them sniff"

"Sniffari walk"

"Decompression walk"

"Nature walk"

What we are all saying is your dog deserves sniffing opportunities and A LOT of them!

So what better way to honor your dog than to change your mind set from taking your dog for a walk to taking your dog for a sniff!

Sniffing is a natural behavior for dogs and the benefits include but are not limited to

🐾 Mental stimulation
Sniffing is a great way to mentally enrich your dog. It requires them to use their brains to process the different smells they encounter.

🐾 Stress reduction
Sniffing can help reduce stress in dogs by releasing endorphins, which have mood-boosting effects.

🐾 Calming
Sniffing can help calm your dog by activating the reward center of their brain. This can help reduce their heart rate and calm their nervous system.

🐾 Dopamine release
Sniffing releases dopamine, a mood-boosting chemical in their brain.

🐾Information gathering
Sniffing provides important information about the environment, other dogs, and humans.

🐾Tire them out
Sniffing can be as exhausting and beneficial as a long walk. Some say that 15 to 20 minutes of sniffing is equivalent to around an hour's walk.

🐾Instinctual drive
Sniffing allows your dog to meet its instinctual drive.

🐾Sense of smell
Dogs have a much better sense of smell than humans. Their noses are filled with hundreds of millions of scent receptors.

Have a paws-itively amazing Christmas everyone! 🎄 🎁

We are so excited for Chief and his FURever family!

Little LJ here, now renamed Chief, is sending an update from Wisconsin 🧀

I’ve been with my loving foster family. My mommy and daddy said I am a foster fail, and have been home this whole time. I am so excited to be FURever home! 🏡. I love my furry siblings and have so much fun playing with them. Even when they don’t want to play, they give in and play anyways. They truly love me! My mommy works from home and is here all the time, I help her with her job and shopping on her computer 🖥️ we bought lots of Christmas gifts and are ready for the Holiday. We have this tree with lights 🎄and decorations around the house. We have white stuff ❄️ ☃️ on the grass, it’s so much fun to run in. I snuggle with my daddy every day, it’s cold in Wisconsin so snuggles are great. I get a ton of attention and love 💕 and I am living my best life ❤️❤️

Congratulations 🎊🎉 to Chief and his family! We are so thankful to this amazing family for fostering and providing a wonderful home ❤️❤️

Happy Tails Update!! We are super excited to share Toto is home. Furever Home! And he is never gonna leave there ever, because he loves his new home. 🏡

Our handsome Hill, renamed Toto, says there's no place like home! 🏡 He decided to keep his foster family. He loves his momma and his furry sibling so much, he is staying. ❤️When he was in the shelter he was very scared, but this foster family worked with him to gain his confidence. He is now a happy boy, a little goofball, super spoiled and loved. They were made to be together from the beginning. 💕

Thank you to this amazing family for opening their hearts and home to Toto. We appreciate them being a foster home, and saving his life. 🥰♥️

FOLKS... WE ARE TIRED!! 😫
We are working tirelessly to try to save every adoptable animal but we are running on empty.

We are a tiny shelter with only 9 dog kennels & 6 cat kennels. We get 1 dog out but then 2 come in. We get 2 out, 3 come in. It's a never ending flow.

We are exhausted. There is no down time, no breaks, no days off. Our ACO's are working to clean, fed & run calls while volunteers network the animals as frantically as possible.

We desperately need more rescue partners, more adopters, more volunteers, more networkers.

Owners microchip your pets, have names tags on all pets & please spay/neuter!
We desperately need to grow our page! The more people that see us, the better the chances for the animals to get to safety.

Please help us help the animals! 🙏

Hey guys! Want to hear the best news?? Carrie got adopted! After 3 years in rescue (off and on since she was a puppy), Carrie finally found her forever home. Her new dad drove 1500 miles here and is driving another 1500 back taking her to her new home in Idaho. We are overjoyed for Carrie and her new family that includes dad, mom, border collie brother, Jackson and 2 cat siblings.
