How do you find time for training?

It’s simple. It doesn’t take a whole lot of time.
I put my dog in the car and drive a mile away, now I’m training in a new location.
I bring about 10 treats with me and get 10 behaviors. I walk a little ways part in the woods, part on a field, part on a parking lot. So there’s different surfaces I’m working on.
I stop every once in a while and do about four behaviors (I break the treats into pieces so I get more out of it )
We usually end up finding something new today. It was ducks, getting up close to a school bus, walking next to different buildings, and we even walked up to a super scary storm drain that at first Atticus was sure was from another planet.
Socialized by saying hello and walking past a couple people
Atticus gets car sick so these little trips I think are helping quite a bit as well.
Got me out of the house fresh air. It was fun bonding with my dog.

Dakota is a “potcake dog”, which means that she lived on an island and never inside of a house
Her people had her DNA done and it turns out she is also 50% malinois
We talked about genetics and how that comes into play when you’re training a dog and it is important to make sure you’re meeting your dogs needs. She is a smart dog learns fast, and also gets bored quickly
Setting up, consistent rules, along with training and enrichment and exercise is important.

He is working on ways to cope with things better setting up new rules and boundaries and being consistent. It’s a big part of the plan.

Alfred is learning to wear a muzzle in a positive way slowly and at his pace at home where he feels safer.This means when he goes to the vet we don’t have the extra stress of having the muzzle put on there. we also took him for a walk around his neighborhood, proving fun things can happen with the muzzle on. Muzzles keep things safe and take a lot of the stress away from the ownet

Many times I see puppies, giving their people a hard time of putting on their leash or harness.Get them used to putting the equipment on and off every day! This is an important part of getting Your Dog comfortable with being handled

Play

Play is a very important part of training for Your Dog. He needs exercise and play provides that! Play is also very bonding for you and Your Dog. It has rules tucked into it that the dog doesn’t even know about, such as take it, drop it, come to me and putting his teeth on you is not allowed and will end the game. Here we play with a flirt pole with Atticus. He can run fast and he has a target to grab onto that is not your hand or clothing.

Teach your dog at a young age to stand still while you put your collar on him

Maggie being brave and walking away from the house We’ve been working with Maggie and getting her to be confident enough to leave the house. This trail is literally three doors down, but she will not leave her property. With a lot of patience and love her people gave her the confidence and today she walked down the path and had a wonderful time being a beagle and sniffing sniffs!!
