The Bassett pups are now 15 days old. Their eyes are open and during the night while they are asleep I hear the practicing their barking and other cute noises. We have 3 boys of 3 different colors and 2 blonde girls. If all goes well these puppies should be adoptable to families for Christmas. We do not adopt out pets to be hiven away as a gift to anyone under any circumstances.
Well we have a few little secrets. A heartworm positive dog came to us to get treatment. As soon as I seen her I thought she was pregnant. About 1 year ago we pulled a dog from a shelter that was heartworm positive and nobody knew cause she had just come into the shelter and did t look pregnant. We started the Doxy right away and sent her off to her foster to adopt home. When that dog came back the veterinarian at Surrey had his suspensions about the dog being pregnant. He ran
Some tests. As it turned out she was pregnant and the doxi given to start treatment had actually killed the unborn puppies and created a huge infection in the momma and that could have killed her as well. This was a very expensive lesson for our rescue. Now this new dog is a Bassett Hound slightly mixed with something. She came from a hoarding situation and we only agreed to take her to save her life from heartworm. We had no clue that she might be pregnant. I took 1 look at her and pretty much knew. I did consult with the vets office and at that time we decided to wait on starting heartworm treatment. Around 9pm on 10/24/2023 our momma dog began to give birth. The first born was a little black girl who appeared healthy but was quickly named Angel as God called her home. The next 5 born were ours to keep. We were gifted with 5 babies. 3 boys and 2 girls. Now if you look at your calendar you will also see these are going to be our Christmas puppies. This doesn't mean to be given away as a gift either. We will be looking for families for these puppies as their time comes up. You will be able to watch them grow here on our FB page. As always I will post photos and videos about once a week.
These lucky ones made it ALL THE WAY HOME.
Yesterday this group of puppies had a blast
This litter was born on my birthday (April 4th). I call them the panda babies. We have the first girl born with regulär panda eyes and the second girl born with big panda eyes and the 3rd and last born was a little boy and he has 1 regular panda eye and 1 large panda eye. Growing up so quickly and they are begining to get around quite a bit now.
So this is happening right now. Our pregnant momma from Sterling Heights has just given birth to her first baby and its a little girl with markings of a panda. More to come.
2 days ago I got that phone call I was praying for so I had to go have that talk with Cole yesterday. Cole is being adopted today into a home where these people just recently lost their beloved lab named Cole. Our Cole has had a very special place in my heart since he was born in the back seat of my 2004 Caviler Surrey Veterinary Clinic on September 28th 2021 at 10:05am. I would also like to thank all who helped Cole get to where he would be offered this great opportunity in life to be loved on and spoiled for the rest of his days.
