I hadn’t gotten any shots of Finnegan and Nora yet! We’re working with them on a few things, they’ve both made great progress on leash reactivity and nice walking, and now we are sorting out their scuffles over affection from their owners and guests, as well as getting Finnegan to come inside instead of being stubborn about staying in the yard for hours!

Max and Kai expressed a big disinterest in training in this cold, so we took our session to Home Depot! They both did a great job at not barking at people and things, apart from the rain deer decorations, but after proper corrections and guidance both decided to make better choices about them!

Here’s a little feel good post about Max: Max’ owners actually came to me because he was fear aggressive toward people, including having attacked Steve here’s shoes, at his store. Steve gave them my number, and here we are full circle! We took Max to work at the same store and wouldn’t ya know it they’re getting along great! Big thanks to Steve at in Livonia, for the referral and being a great help in Max’s progress! His owners are now equipped with the ability to guide Max toward the appropriate responses to people, places, dogs, and things. Make sure to find your nearest Premier Pet Supply for all of your pet care essentials! There are always many employees working and ready to help you!

Check out Lua taking her commands to solidify at the park! Her “Check-In” recall has been solid as you can see, and she did a wonderful job holding a down-stay right by a tennis game too!

Link is in bio if you need dog training! Filling up the schedule for the summer!!

Here’s a little clip of Lua and Calvin doing some training with each other as distractions.

Lua initially tried to disregard her “Lie Down(+Stay)” command as Calvin came by, but after being redirected into position, she did a great job minding the task she was given, as he passed by twice.

You’ll see that her owner has been doing great work with her recall as well (“Check In”).

Then Calvin took a turn holding a Stay command as Lua did the same.

Lua and her owner have been working hard! This was from today, Lua’s first time being asked to Lie Down (+Stay) outside in the yard! She did really well!

Couple weeks late posting it, but here’s a couple minutes of Calvin working on Stay at the park. This was his first time working on it at the playground with lots of kids running around and people walking by. A little bit of tug at the end.

Here’s a clip from a short adventure Calvin had this afternoon!

I tossed some treats into the little crevice so he could work out maneuvering tight spots; then kept on with a little following game.

He knew I had a treat for him each time he caught up to me, so I moved to spots that would incentivize him to problem solve, conquer, and thus build some confidence.

Teaching Luke the Place command, Part One.

Luke likes to make a big deal about people coming over, so we are showing him that sitting in his chair while people are at and in the doorway, is not only possible, but rewarding!

Here’s a clip of Calvin having some play time with a new friend; Lua.

This was probably 10 minutes into their little play date. After a gradual progression from curious to wrestling match, both pups had moments of expressing to each other how they do and DONT like to play.

In the beginning, Calvin is playing a little rough, as he likes to do, Lua happily obliged most of the time. Shortly into it, an eye for body language will see Calvin asking for a moment of space(turning and walking away, tail high, stiff body & shaking off) then what may look like rough play to some, or aggression to others, is essentially him giving a correction for not taking the hint.

You’ll see me verbally correct him as he begins to over-correct her(she turns her head and body away, but he’s still correcting). After responding to my verbal correction by backing off, he turns back to her offering a play bow, then proceeds to start playing, but bit too rough, which I correct verbally and follow up with a little shove on the butt… Soon he’ll know “too much” to mean “dude, let up and back off for a sec”

Then he goes and finds a toy, and the game of keep-away is on!
