FWC Nonnative Species TAG Webinar Thursday!

*Please note that this is different than the FWC Commission meeting, which is happening in person May 10-11. We believe that draft language to a rule to further restrict trade in nonnative species will be revealed at this TAG meeting. At the last TAG meeting, FWC staff presented the committee with two potential "Whitelist" regulatory structures, both of which were unacceptable to the majority of animal industry reps on the TAG.

Phil Goss, Eugene Bessette, and Joe Hiduke represent the reptile industry on the TAG. Members of the public may observe this meeting online at 10am on Thursday, April 27.

Subject: During the February 2021 Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission meeting, the Commissioners directed staff to develop a Technical Assistance Group (TAG) to help address nonnative fish and wildlife issues in Florida. The purpose of this TAG is to enhance and promote ongoing dialogue and mutual understanding among organizations and agencies, and their respective stakeholders, by working together to address and examine the regulatory structure for nonnative fish and wildlife in Florida. The TAG will not serve as an advisory committee, nor is it delegated any decision-making authority. The objectives of this April 2023 virtual meeting will be to update TAG members prior to the next Commission meeting.
Date/Time: Thursday, April 27, 2023, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

We owe so much to Brian in this industry as well as myself personally starting 30 years ago when I bought my first snake from him. Most kids circled things for Christmas in the toy catalog, not me, I carried around my BHB pricelist. It has been awesome seeing my kids be able to connect with someone I idolized as a kid now via YouTube and Brian letting us in to his everyday. Stay strong Brian!
