Who remembers the sick kitty from this past Saturday? He is doing a lot better. He still needs to have a few pesky teeth pulled, but for now, he is enjoying being inside where it is warm and meals come 3x a day. The journey of each and every cat that comes through our doors is documented from start to finish. Ever wonder what happens to some other rescues cats? Seems to be a huge workup to get them off the street, but once they are trapped, you never really see them again. Sad because that is when their journey really begins.

In the famous words of Brittney Spears "Oops I did it again."
Someone asked me on Sunday if Henry was the same cat in a previous video. This got me thinking. I thought the cat I was trying to catch was a brown tabby. I headed out this morning. It was a balmy 9 degrees while I was out feeding my beloved Street Cats. Like clockwork, this beauty appeared in the shadows. I coaxed her over and pet her for a minute to calm her while she ate. I stuffed her, and the rest will be history. I gave her every opportunity to bite or scratch, but she remained calm and docile. Hopefully, she will be a Sweet Cat in the making.

Street Cat Raymond was also brought in for TNR 2 weeks ago. As you can see, he is now as sweet as they come. He will continue his socializing and be put up for adoption soon.

Yesterday was a very close call for this Street Cat. She was scheduled to be spayed, but the universe had other plans. Shortly after being sedated, she started to crash. The doctors were able to save her and drained a lot of fluid from her lungs. She is on 2 types of antibiotics and will be monitored for another month. She is safe here as long as she needs. Do you know what this means? There is plenty of time for more socializing.

This Sweet but confused boy is staying a few extra days as he recovers from a cold. Do we think he has what it takes to be a Sweet Cat?

Safe travels, big boy. No more baby making for you. TNR(trap, neuter, return)will stop this guy from breeding, fighting, and wandering. Seems like a no-brainer, but many municipalities don't have programs in place.
Newbies only get a few free meals. Hopefully, I will see this sweet girl over the weekend so she can be spayed. Kitten season is right around the corner, and TNR(trap, neuter, return) is the only humane option to help prevent unwanted litters of kittens.

Happy Caterday.
Today was a busy day. Volunteer Celia and I cleaned up the rescue space. Griffin supervised, of course. Two Street Cats were returned to their colony after a weeks recovery. While there, I said might as well. I quickly trapped two more for vetting next week. Pics will be posted tomorrow with some other exciting news. 2025 is already starting off strong. If you feed or feed and trap in newark and want to be part of the Street Cats to Sweet Cats crew, please email [email protected]. We are looking for trappers, transport(usually between 845 and 930)cleaning, laundry, feeding, and socializing(hold harmless agreement and health insurance required). Our goal in 2025 is to vet(tnr and adoptable) 100 Street Cats. We have 94 to go. Will this be your year to step out of your comfort zone? You might just like it.
