Happy half birthday to these two crazy kids 🎉

Miss Ola has been thriving with her training and her trainer think she would be the best therapy dog and would even consider a Bernedoodle as her next dog. Ola’s mom is heading back to work in the classroom and is going to miss her greatly as she has been at home with her for the last couple of months💕

Mr Appa loves his walks (aka yip yips), stealing socks and lining up his brother’s shoes in the living room. He’s such a ham! His mom also gets tons of compliments on his beautiful locks of luscious hair💙🩵

Tips & Tricks from Baxter & Bella the Online Puppy Training School on using WAIT.

Think of some every day scenarios when you would like to have your puppy "WAIT" for verbal permission to cross over an imaginary line you established temporarily...

For example, we use "WAIT" when mopping the floors to keep our dog from walking on them before drying as a way to prevent the unintended consequence of thier paw prints ruining that super clean look. We ask our dogs to “WAIT” when unloading or loading the dishwasher to prevent them from doing their part in the cleaning! Likewise, we ask our dog to "WAIT" at our daughter's bedroom doorway so she does not disturb her stuffed animals or toys every time we enter to help her clean up. We use “WAIT” before letting our dogs eat their meals to prevent them from charging us excitedly for food. “WAIT” is also useful when unloading our dogs from our vehicles. By asking them to “WAIT,” we can calmly open the door, collect our things, pick up their leash, and release them when ready.

The “WAIT” cue keeps your puppy under control in various circumstances. As you will quickly imagine, the opportunities to effectively use the "WAIT" cue are limitless!

Baby Bailey is a 10 week old, female, Bernedoodle. She joined MHCR as an owner surrender due to not having the time available to properly care for a young pup. Bailey is a happy, friendly, playful, pup. She’s covering the basics in her foster home of crate and house training. Bailey enjoys playing with her foster siblings, exploring her yard, and snuggling with her humans. According to the paperwork that came with Bailey, she’s an F1b Bernedoodle – her mom is poodle and her dad is berner/poodle mix, both 60 lbs. We are seeking a home for Bailey that can offer enrichment, activity, proper grooming, and plenty of love and attention to help her grow up to be the best dood she can be.

PUPdate 📣 Can you see the personality that lives within Apollo from the Country Music litter? Everyone his PAWrents send updates, I’m guaranteed to giggle with his silly pictures. They say he has been a huge cuddle bug lately and he likes to people watch. Like REALLY likes to people watch. It’s hilarious! One of his favorite things to do lately is to just chill underneath their blankets and walk between their legs over and over, like a cat 😂❤️

Prevention of foxtails:

Examine your pet’s coat after outdoor time, especially if you have gone walking in open fields.

Check your pet’s face and ears carefully, as well as their mouth, paws, and in between toes.

Brush your pet as necessary, paying special attention to feathery, thick, or curly fur.

Use tweezers to remove any foxtails you can easily get to, but remember that foxtails won’t come out on their own, so if you see any deeply embedded or if the area is red or swollen, call your veterinarian right away.

Summer is here, so let’s talk about traveling with your pets from our friends from Baxter & Bella Online Puppy School 📣

The best place for your puppy to ride in a car is in its crate, safely anchored in the backseat using a seatbelt. This prevents your puppy from roaming around the car, causing distractions, or leaping out of an open car window. Putting them in the backseat also prevents airbag injuries in case of a crash. The back of a truck is not recommended.

If the crate idea seems too much for you, take caution in letting your pet hang his head out the window while traveling. Airborne debris may cause injury, and some animals may actually leap from the window. If you are not going to use a crate, then at the minimum, attach your puppy to the seat using a puppy seatbelt or keep the windows up enough to prevent such occurrences. Never hold them in your lap while driving.

Remember, your puppy needs regular breaks on longer trips. Be sure to provide rest stops. During these breaks, give your puppy a drink of water using a portable water bowl . It's important to never share water bowls with dogs you do not know to prevent illness. Take your puppy for a short walk, at least five minutes, and allow them to relieve themselves. Always clean up after your pet. I bring doggy bags and a bucket with hand sanitizer, paper towels, and Clorox wipes as a clean-up kit in case my pup gets car sick.

It's crucial to never leave your dog alone in the vehicle, especially during the summer months. Your car can heat up very quickly, even with the windows cracked. In 80-degree weather, that vehicle can warm up to over 100 degrees in less than 10 minutes. If you take longer than you thought to get back, even as little as half an hour, temperatures could reach over 120 degrees, causing significant harm or even death to your pet. Please spread the word about this to your friends as well!
