⛈ Hurricane season is upon us! Are you prepared if you have to evacuate? It's important to have your pets prepared in case you have to travel at last minute or even if you stay in town. Some things to be ready with are:
1) Ensure your pet's microchip is up-to-date and if your pet isn't microchip, consider getting it done. If you don't know your pet's microchip info, you can have them scanned at any veterinary clinic or shelter.
2) Get vaccines updated and/or get their most recent records. If you have to travel, most hotels will want proof of at least a Rabies and boarding facilities will want proof of all vaccines as well.
3) Take a current picture of your pet. This is important in case your pet gets lost.
4) Stay on top of refilling essential medications.
5) In addition to a microchip, it's a good idea to have a current Rabies tag and ID tag on your pet's collar.
Remember - if there is an evacuation order that means boarding facilities in the area will have to close and evacuate also so it's important to be prepared to take your pet with you.
