Happy Sunday and thanks for your interest in Langwater Farm's 4H program! We are excited for our kick off this week and sharing more information. As you may know, the meeting is this upcoming Wednesday from 5-6PM in the tack room at the barn. If you cannot attend, we have a Zoom in option as well. I will send out the Zoom link later this week.
4‑H is America’s largest youth development organization—empowering nearly six million young people with the skills to lead for a lifetime. Not only will children get hands-on experience at the farm, but also in 4H programs to learn lifetime skills such as public speaking and team building.
Our Essex County Club will focus on Horses and Rabbits. Members will be expected to help with the care of these animals, and there will be a riding option as well for anyone at a certain age or skill level.
For now, we are accepting children 5+ but the younger kids will be here for a shorter duration throughout the day. The older (teenagers) will be expected to partner with a younger person to help if there is any need! We will be working on our own in-farm mentorship program in that sense.
The club will meet twice a week, one weekend and one weekday night during set hours. During the summer, the option of more meetings will become available as kids are out of school.
We will go over more information at the meeting about the cost of dues, club rules, and expectations on attendance.
We will also be attending and volunteering at the Topsfield Fair this year as a club and participating in the Horse Show on Oct 5th in the Fair Arena.
Please feel free to forward to share this post with anyone else who may be interested!
