Please be aware that we are finally warm enough for problems if you leave your dog inside your hot car.

Leaving the windows down is NOT enough to cool down the inside of the vehicle.

Temperatures above 70° will raise up to 100° within 20 minutes or less!

All dogs are susceptible to heatstroke but the brachiocephalic have a more difficult time.

Be safe out there!

Why does nobody want me??

I am a very good boy… I listen. I have a good recall… I don’t chase horses and I play well with others.

Summer is on the way, but I’m not going to be able to play with anyone because I don’t have a home of my own.

My name is Cooper and I would really love to go to a nice home with someone and be their best friend. But right now, I’m just sad. My future doesn’t look very bright.

Simple Analogy—Why we can’t save them all…

Every time rescue is asked to take an owner surrender- we have to somehow make room on our little raft for that dog.
When an owner says stuff like “I don’t have time to give them the best life” or “I have to move” or “they have too much anxiety” it really falls flat because that means if we bring them on the raft, another dog out there in the freezing water gets to die.

Every day rescue adjudicate life and death by gate keeping who can get on the boat.

Rescues and shelters are the tiny Rescue Boats.

The Ship is our community at large.

The iceberg is comprised of puppy mills, careless owners, backyard breeders, and a$$hats who won’t spay/neuter.

These two are the SWEETEST Heelers you could possibly hope to meet.

House broken, know basic commands and are very kind to other dogs. Spayed, chipped and all vetted.

They are looking for a new place to call home. They both need a little extra exercise and we are transitioning them over to some green beans in their diet to help take off a few pounds now.

**ADOPTION OPTION**

Hi everyone! My name is Nala and I’m a smaller Heeler looking for my forever home now. (Only about 30/35 #).

I am a little frightened of bigger female dogs at first but once I get to know them it’s okay. I do fine with male dogs. I know sit and shake.

I’m only just over a year old and I’m finding snow very interesting since I just flew in from California yesterday.
This stuff is kinda fun! I am deaf but the vet thought I may gain some hearing later on. That doesn’t stop me from anything though and I’m very good about coming back to check on you to see what you are doing. 👀👀

I would like to meet my new family very soon. Oh and I love kids too by the way.

She left LAX in the wee hours and we’ll meet her at ANC this evening after she changes planes in Seattle.

**ADOPTION POST UPDATE**

Hey all…. We are trying to save another girl here. Meet Nala!

Last week at a my conference in Houston, (while rescuing Remy), the plan was to intercept Nala in Seattle, on my return to Alaska.

About a day after we had started to make arrangements, a person stepped forward and said that she would be willing to adopt her. 🙏☺️ 🎉

But, by mid week that person backed out of the deal and now we are back to trying to figure out how to still save Nala.
😢😔😭

We have finally secured another reservation for next Monday the 18th, for her to travel via cargo, on Alaska Airlines. Who by the way is the ONLY airline we use to shuffle dogs both in and out of Alaska and around the US.

But we need some help…
Could or would any of you be willing to donate to her cause?

Requirements include;
travel health certificate,
an approved airline kennel and the cargo fees
for the transfer/transport.

If anyone is willing to help the cause, we would be eternally grateful and I would be happy to send you to our website where I donation could be made safely and easily.

Even $5 would be soooo appreciated.

We are not looking to spam or scam anyone. We are just trying to save one more Heeler.

Everyone, meet Sully!

He's a 1 year old cattle dog mix who absolutely loves playing and is the best snuggle buddy you could imagine.

He is incredibly smart and has been to training classes to help him hone in on all his skills. He can sit, shake, lay down, trade toys, wait between your legs, and even weave through them while you walk.

He loves learning new things and is brave enough to try any new ones in exchange for a good treat. He's very intelligent and has an "outside" and "play" button to help ask for what he wants.

He is kennel trained and comes with a large wire kennel. He also walks well on leash with a bit of encouragement and his favorite thing in the world is car rides!

He has lived with cats and guinea pigs, but he unfortunately does not get along with the other male dog in the home, otherwise, he is wonderful. He did live with a spayed female for a while and got along great with her too.

He has been an amazing companion so far, and we know he'll be a wonderful dog in the right home.

Just due to some outside circumstances, he does need to secure a new home fairly quickly, so don’t wait. Please send us a PM right away if you are interested in him or would even like to foster him for a little while
