Two weeks from today, you could have a new relationship to confidence. For nearly twenty years, the word “confidence” has been a part of every conversation, request for help, and blamed for failure…every time. But what does confidence mean? How do you define it? How do you find it? Can you just conjure it up at will?

If these questions were easy to answer, I wouldn’t have a job! Confidence is the end product of more things than I can put in a post. And spoiler alert, ultimately, it isn’t about confidence.

This clinic is about you. How you think. How every thought makes you feel. How every feeling makes you behave. And how that either propels you forward towards your goals or sends you backwards into the same pattern you have been stuck in. Come get unstuck. It’s going to be fantastic.

Ever wonder what your horse thinks of you? What his personality is? How he likes for you to communicate with him?

Many (most) of us might not have given this less obvious aspect of riding and training too much thought, but it might be a big key to unlocking potential and success. In our latest episode, host Caroline Culbertson chats with international dressage rider/trainer and Equestrian Masterclass instructor Mette Larsen, where she breaks down what it means to be in a successful partnership with your horse, how to determine the type of communication style your horse needs and how to bring self-awareness back to your riding.

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿, 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁!

My passion for performance sports began at an early age. I had a national swimming record by the age of 7, and by the time I went to the Olympic Trials in 1988, my mental state derailed my career and I didn’t perform to my true ability.

While coaching all levels of athletes, including Olympic level equestrians, I found a similar struggle and an area where people really need to be more mindful with their energy.

Is your horse really in front of your leg? Like, really? This concept can be tough to wrap the mind around because it's one of those things in riding that is better felt than explained. Once you feel it - and especially, once you feel a horse that isn't - you'll know it. But think of being in front....

So many of us struggle with the communication in our relationship with our coaches. We may feel as if our trainers are not hearing us, which in turn can prevent us from hearing their important perspectives and guidance.

In this week’s Zoom Wednesday, we will offer multiple perspectives on how to improve the communication in this relationship, answer any of your questions, and offer new tools to add to your kit to help your relationship with your trainer be as successful as possible through the power of communication!
