Hello! My name is Handsomest Boy, or at least that’s what my foster mom always calls me. She also calls me Goodest Boy or No-Put-That-Down! I'm still a puppy and trying to learn about the big wide world around me, but I must say I'm pretty mature for my age. My skills include sitting (especially for treats), letting you know I need to potty (although accidents happen sometimes), picking good sticks on walks, fetching balls with pizazz, getting along with everyone I meet (people and dogs, cats TBD), and napping on car rides.

I came to RCHS after getting kicked (in my face!) by a horse, but I'm all fixed up now and ready for my forever home!

Do you need a running buddy? I’d make an excellent one!

Do you need to wear out your active children? I’m your guy!

Do you need a companion for life who will love you unconditionally? Sign me up!

Hi, I’m Junior and I’m pretty adorable if I do say so myself!

As you can see, I love plushy toys - and destroying them. I enjoy playing fetch and boy-oh-boy, I sure love going for walks and I'm mostly very good on them. I don’t have to be active all the time though; I also love just hanging around the house watching TV with my head in a lap or lying at my foster mom’s feet. Really, just being with my person is my biggest desire, so if you need a foot warmer under your desk while you work, I’m the man for the job.

I don't do well with other dogs, so I need to be an only dog. I have previously lived with several cats and thought they were cool, but it has been a while and I'm not sure if I still like them. I get very attached to my person and tend to be a bit anxious when I'm left alone and will express this by barking; although I will generally settle down after a bit, I shouldn't live in an apartment. I would prefer a home without children.

Hi, I'm Jack! I'm an 11.5 yr old (mostly) Lab, looking to become part of a family and provide them with lots of love and companionship. My foster says I have a great personality and easy-going nature. I'm hoping to find a family that will provide a safe fenced yard for me to run around in, but I also enjoy long walks and do well on a leash. My foster will tell you how quiet I am, and while I don't like vacuum cleaners or the sound of lawn mowers, I'm not scared during thunderstorms or 4th of July fireworks.

I do have to see my 'dog'tor a lot, but I am a really good patient! She calls me a lemon, but I just don’t see the resemblance to the yellow fruit. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to a lot of stuff, so I have to get allergy meds and shots, and I eat a special dog food. No matter how cute I make myself look, I do not get any treats, because my foster and 'dog'tor say they will make me itchy. I'm a really good boy for getting my paws wiped when I come inside, because the grass can make my feet itchy when my allergies are bad. Sometimes my ears get really uncomfortable and I have to get them checked, cleaned and medicated. I have had some painful infections in the past, so my ears can be sensitive.

I'm housebroken and good about signaling when I need to go outside, but it would be great to have my own doggie door so I can go outside on my own. I’m embarrassed to say that I do have accidents on occasion; my old bladder can’t always hold it until I can get outside, so hard floors and puppy pads are my friends.

I know and follow a few commands and I get along fine with kids, cats and kittens, but I'm not much for getting along with other dogs. Most important, I'm calm and loving and I very much like to snuggle! Even though I need a bit of extra help, I have more than enough love to give to make up for it. My foster or 'dog'tor can tell you more about what I need to support me in my golden years.

I'm one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. I look forward to meeting you and showing you how much love and companionship I have to offer!

**Cricket Update!**

Remember little Cricket, who decided she'd scare us all by going on an 8 day walkabout?

She's been doing great since she's been back in her foster home! Her heartworm treatment has continued and she doesn't even mind that her activity has to be limited and she has to remain calm - she hasn't had any problem being chill since she returned from her adventures 😊 She's enjoying hanging out with her foster sibs, a chiweenie, a morkie and an Old English sheepdog, relaxing and just being a dog.

This little cutie will be available for adoption once her treatment has been completed and she's clear of heartworms.

Hi! I'm Bruno!

I'm a high-energy guy and will need a fenced yard, so I can have lots of opportunities to run, play and use up some of that energy. Long walks are great too, and I'm working on learning to walk on a leash.

I’m at the perfect age for training and am an eager learner! I'm house trained, but you should know that if I'm left outside by myself, I'll bark. Also, I do have some food aggression and will growl if another animal gets close to my food, but otherwise, I can get along with animals.

I'd say I'm an all-around great pup! I'm ready to help keep you active, and when we're all done working out, I LOVE to snuggle! Are you looking for an active cudlebug? That's me!

Hi! My name is Princess and I'm a quirky girl with a unique personality. I can be a bit skittish and play hard to get, but deep down I do like to play - and if you hold your hand out to me, prepare for your fingers to get licked! Also, I like to tear up cardboard so I wouldn't give me a box to lay in unless you need some DIY packing confetti!

I do well in low activity environments, and I like to nap on comfy pillows or rugs. I can tolerate the company of other cats, but dogs are scary and small children may not be the best match for me, but I would make a great companion to anyone who needs a warm fuzzy friend!

Hi! I'm Scarlett!

I was a pretty shy girl, but I've really warmed up a lot since I've been with RCHS! In a new home, I may hide at first, but once I'm used to things and not so scared, I'll stop hiding. Now that I'm settled in, I'm super comfortable with my foster family and love cuddles and kisses; now I even come to get loves from guests! I'll respond to my name and snuggle a lot. I really like to flop over on my back and snuggle into your arm, and I even don't mind belly pets!

I'm a water kitty! My favorite thing to do is dip my paw into my water bowl and then lick the water from my paw. I really like doing this in the water fountain, but will dip my paws in regular water bowls too. My favorite spot is to lie in the window and watch the world and my second favorite spot is the top of a cat tree. Do you have windows and a cat tree?

I get along with other cats, but I need some time to warm up to them first. I will hiss and run away until I learn I don't need to be afraid of them. I've gotten used to my dog foster siblings, too! I will come with them for loves and hanging out with my foster human, like I'm just part of the crew.

All cats go to their new homes spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. If you are interested in adopting this cat, please fill out an application here: bit.ly/Cat-Adopt-App.

Meet Emily!

Do you like the goofy husky personality but not the loud husky talk? Meet Emily! She’s what we call a unicorn husky. Emily has all of the s***k, silliness, and stubbornness of a husky without any of the talk. Barking is a very rare occurrence and she prefers to communicate by flipping her food bowl around and doing “tippy taps” around the house.

Guard dog is not in Emily’s job description. Along with rarely barking, she is a social butterfly and has never met a stranger. She absolutely adores children and makes it her mission to greet every person who walks past her.

Emily likes to spend most of her days napping while you are at work, and is ready for a walk or a car ride when you get home. She enjoys vigorously shaking her favorite toy and chasing tennis balls (though returning them isn’t guaranteed). She currently uses a dog door and is free roaming in the house but is also crate trained.

Emily reportedly gets along very well with cats. She has lived with several other dogs in the past year and does well with them. She is not dog aggressive, but will occasionally resource guard toys.

When Emily came to RCHS about a year ago, she was… a little “Husky” and weighed a whopping 106 pounds. She has been on a therapeutic weight loss diet and has lost over 40(!) pounds since then, but still has a bit to go. She would do best in a home that would be very strict on her food intake (no food scraps and treats) and will provide daily walks as she finishes the “tail” end of her weight loss journey.

Throughout her time with us, we have been managing not only her weight, but also infections of her urinary tract, joint pain, and several injuries on her paws. Because all of this was related to her excess weight, as she moves closer to her ideal weight, her health continues to improve and she becomes more and more a normal, active Husky.

Hi! My name is Oreo and I'm a 1 year and 6 months old girl. I'm pretty shy at first, but will warm up if you give me time. I'm usually very calm, but really love playing with toys (especially feathered wands and laser pointers). I also love jumping on your lap and cuddling with you! I will follow you around the house and headbutt you from time to time, but please know that I do not like being picked up. I would rather come to you for pets rather than you approach me. I would do well with guardians who understand to give me space if I'm not feeling up to pets. Sometimes I like to make funny faces and sleep in cute funny positions.

Personally, I feel that I might be best as an only cat, but eventually, with time, I tolerate and co-exist with other cats and even dogs. I don’t really play with them much, but if they leave me alone I'll also live peacefully amongst their company, sometimes even sleeping next to them! Please be patient with me (slow introductions)! I'm unsure how I'll be with small children so I prefer a home without them.

I'm spayed and up to date with vaccinations.

In July of 2023, I was briefly diagnosed with Vestibular Syndrome**. The syndrome may appear for no reason, but vanishes in a short time and will never reappear. After the exam, the vets concluded that the only suspicion they had was exposure to toxins, but after thorough bloodwork exams and IV drips, the vets found nothing wrong. My condition went away in 2-3 weeks, and I'm perfectly healthy and stable now!

** It is a short-term, self-resolving condition. It affects balance in animals such as a cat suddenly developing incoordination, falling or circling to one side, involuntary darting of the eyes back and forth (nystagmus) and a head tilt.**

I'm super curious about every single corner of the house, but also about heights. I'm a climber — I need to get close to everything up there to look at Alexa or a picture or a book. I'm fascinated with everything moving, from the clock hands to a loose string — don’t even get me started on how much I love wands and laser pointers!

I follow my humans around and meow for attention, but I am known to do something naughty as soon as you look away! My foster family says I'm I really cute with my antics! I also like to run around the house and slide on the hardwood floor until I get so tired I just flop right on the floor. I enjoy spending time with my brother Alphie, who is also looking for his family. We think it would be super fun to go to a home together so we can play together forever!

All kitties go to their new homes spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. If you are interested in adopting this cat, please email us much at [email protected]. Thank you!
