For anyone who's wondering, we are still alive and training. 😉

Both of us have have had to focus on other things (including the health of our personal dogs), but we are still learning, and still enjoying our time working with clients.

We continue to re-structure and change how we operate and train as we learn more and get feedback from our clients. We just suck at social media. 😅

Enjoy a few pics of our more recent new friends.

Hello friends!

Some big changes are underway!
Haylee is stepping away from our Utah location to focus on her master's degree. Super exciting!
This means we'll be focusing more on our NC location and there will be some changes here reflecting that.

We'll still be happy to provide distance-friendly online services, generate new educational content and give referrals for trusted pet pros.

Keep an eye out because if her schedule allows, Haylee might be available for some select services in the future. We also have something very special we've been working on that we're excited to announce in the coming months!

We've got not one, but TWO new blog posts ready for you!
How to Find a Good Breeder
and
Don't Choose a Dog Based on Breed Alone

Both are packed with great info and things many of our clients said they wished they knew much earlier. We've had these conversations with a lot of people recently and decided to put it all together in one place for everyone.

Hope you enjoy, and as always, let us know if you have any questions or would like any help!

Demyx had a vet appointment today. He was due for a blood draw for his medication he needs, but that's always super stressful for him.

Luckily, between some high value treats, a lickimat, trick training to take his mind off things and having been muzzle-trained long ago, he did much better today!
The vet techs went out of their way to make friends with him and accommodate him. They gave him a certificate for being a brave boy.
I think he liked the treats more. 😉

The Hazards of Off Leash Dogs

Earlier this week, Haylee took some adorable day-train clients to 3 separate parks to work on some behaviors. There were off-leash dogs at all 3 parks. None of them were under voice control and most of the owners were paying minimal attention to these dogs.

Not only did this affect Haylee's ability to train, but it affects everyone's ability to safely use and enjoy these public spaces with their own dogs.

We've said it before and we'll say it a million times more - please leash your dogs in areas with leash laws!

We're creating a 3-part blog series to educate and give resources for those who wish to safely let their dogs off leash, understand the dangers of letting dogs off leash and what to do when encountering an off leash dog.

Part 1 is up now. Check it out by clicking the link below! As always, we're more than happy to chat and answer questions. 😁

We've made no secret that one of our biggest pet peeves is off-leash dogs. Check out our blog post on The Hazards of Off-Leash Dogs for all of our reasons. Don't get us wrong, letting your dog...

Forgive the language, but so much THIS.
I've said it many times before and I'll never stop saying it. There's so much misinformation about animal behavior and training - particularly surrounding dogs.
Please be kind to them. Look for science-based info and newer research. Don't listen to the idiots peddling outdated, harmful crap.

I’ve absolutely had it. We’re doing the very best we can. We are educated, certified, accredited. We strive to pull you out of the sea of misinformation and bu****it pseudoscience.

I need to diplomatically explain why the last trainer you hired wasn’t helping when they forced your fearful reactive dog around their triggers. I need to calmly (and without anger towards the trainer) explain why it was not ok that your last trainer hung, punched or kicked your dog (which is not only NOT ok, it’s reportable to the authorities). Now, I’ll have to explain why this article, even though it’s published by what seems like a credible source, is going to damage and set back dogs and guardians everywhere.

I’ll have to explain that we don’t ignore our separation anxious dogs and we don’t yell at them either (as the author suggests). I’ll have to explain that having a rich, affectionate relationship with your dog isn’t causing the separation anxiety, and you don’t have to stop.

And we don’t shame owners, or, I don’t. But this author needs to be held accountable. Publishing bu****it and suggesting that a sad, soft dog needs tough love. Like sadness is ever cured by being unsupportive and cold to the sad and broken.

This sweet senior who you refer to as a “mentally unbalanced dog” because he’s a “rescue”. As if his current upset by being ignored in his fear and anxiety is somehow his own fault, a captive dog who can’t find the right trainer and get his own vet check while you write your fu***ng article implying that HE is the problem. Like he owes you anything.

The Washington Post and Netflix and National Geographic packaging anything from basic misinformation (every SA dog won’t eat) to raging, aggressive animal abuse as “training” like their cash cow Cesar. They need to stop, they need to be held accountable for profiting off your dog’s suffering when you follow what absolutely is well packaged bu****it and pseudoscience.

Shame on the Washington Post and shame on the trainer from this article (whoever you are) working separation anxiety cases like this - your advice is literally hurting dogs. Do better.

Last call for reduced pricing on all of our services!

We've held out as long as we can, but like many of you, inflation and gas prices are affecting our ability to do business. So we finally made the decision to raise our pricing. We're still on the lower end for professional training services, especially for our level of skill, education and certification. We're also one of the only modern, science-based trainers in the Utah County area.
We love all of our clients and we want to continue to take great care of you and your pets.

For the next two weeks, if you schedule any of the following services with us, you'll lock in these old prices. Keep in mind we offer online lessons as well!

$180 - 1st set of 2 in-home lessons
$160 - 2nd set of 2 in-home lessons
$140 - 3rd set of 2 in-home lessons

We're so happy to announce that we passed both of our CPDT-KSA certification tests!
As of December 2021, there were only 172 CPDT-KSA certificants worldwide. There's at least two more now!

We both love learning and continuing our education. The more we learn, the better tools we have to help our clients and their pets. 🎓🐕🐈🦜🦎🐇

This is the best resource I've seen on this topic hands-down.
I keep seeing people talk about a war against certain tools/methods.
The only war we're fighting is advocating for animal welfare and best practices based on science and continuing education. If you're standing on the other side of that, you're fighting the wrong war my friend.

Murphy is seriously the squishiest sweetest guy! He’s had a bit of stranger danger, but once I gave him the agency to break hearts and not say hi to people, he’s decided he wanted to say hi to everyone! He met firefighters, and lots of people today, and rocked his confidence, leash walking, recall, and being an overall adorable boy!
