Trails with Tails Animal Transport We bring families and pets together by providing Domestic/International Flight Nanny and Ground transport. They are cleaned and sanitized after each use.

Residing in Central Kentucky and enjoying retirement from a successful teaching career, I am so blessed and happy to have a second career working with animals. I may only have them in my care for a limited time, but a real loving bond is developed. If you are seeking an

honest, reliable, and dependable person who will comfort and treat your pet like their own, look no further! I drive a Honda CR-V and ONLY utilize all hard-sided plastic crates for transport. Pets ONLY travel in the crates. *photos will be provided
I do provide:
*hard-sided plastic crates
*puppy pads
*cat litter
*water bowls/food bowls (clean and sanitized after each use)
*treats (with permission)
*fans, if needed beyond the air conditioner
*small collapsible playpen for small puppies when overnight or when on a longer than normal driving break
*towels/blankets (cleaned and sanitized after each use)
*new chew toys -- if needed for pet entertainment

If the pet does not have a harness, leash or collar I will provide them at the owner's expense (this will be discussed ahead of of transport as it is necessary to have these in order to take the pet on breaks and walks)

My promise to you, as a road trip can be traumatic for older animals, I will provide:
*conversation -- yes I do talk to my pets as we travel
*Lots of TLC
*Patience!!! Every pet is different and some need more reassurances than others
*Stretch breaks/walks and playtime
*Bathroom breaks are taken away from truck stops and rest areas when possible. I try to find out-of-the-way places that fewer pets have traveled.
*Puppies that do not have all of their shots will never have their paws on the ground. I use puppy pads and change out regularly throughout the trip.
*Medications prescribed by the vet can be administered if needed. Just give me notice.
*I really prefer to travel with pets who have not been drugged for the sake of transport. But if you insist, please just be honest and let me know you have given your pet calming medications. So you will be in the know of our travels, you will receive texts and photos throughout. Video chat is doable if you wish as well. You are welcome to phone me at any time during the transport. REQUIRED FOR TRANSPORT
*Document -- USDA APHIS Federal Form 7001 -- Vet's US Certificate of Health Examination
*Hard Shelled Plastic Crate -- This is not up for negotiation; but it is required by law to transport your pet(s). I am happy to provide one for transport at no additional fee.
*Require your pet to be bathed within 24 hours of pickup. Ground Transport

*If your location is extremely rural, I will ask you to be upfront and meet me at the nearest town for you. Safety is very important for me as well as the pets transported. Air Transport

FEES:
Rates do vary depending upon several criteria:
*Size of pet, temperament, and age
*Single (VIP) transport or sharing ride—ground transport
*flight Nanny
*Geographic location
-toll roads
-gas prices
*Current weather conditions at the time of transport
Overall it is a .90 - $1.30 a mile but I am willing to negotiate price

SPECIAL RATES:
Rescues will receive consideration for special rates
Military families relocating will receive special rates

BOOKING:
There is a 50% fee due at the time of booking. The remainder will be due upon delivery. If at the time of pickup, the pet has not been bathed within 24 hours or there is no APHIS 7001 certificate with official vet signature your booking fee is nonrefundable and the transport is cancelled. You may, however reschedule the transport with a portion of the original booking fee to reissued to you for transport. A sign of appreciation for my services is very appreciated at the end of the transport, but not required.

Update on

10pm EST 11/11/24

Pup made the journey from our routine vet to the amazing folks at Stanford Veterinary Hospital this afternoon. Thank you to everyone helping so far!

He will have surgery tomorrow to have one of his front legs removed.

His pain is being managed now, after he reminded everyone how resilient and stubborn and independent he is on the journey.

Despite pain so bad, a bullet in his chest, and a shattered leg, walked in with minor assistance, with his head held high.

Santa listened. Our rescue partners and followers shared and you all have donated a total of $809.85 through Facebook and PayPal Giving Fund.

The minimum estimate is $1261.85. We still need to raise at least $452. We will also be setting up a Cuddly and Amazon wishlist for him.

He also still needs an approved medical foster to recover with after surgery.

Oh my goodness. What sweetness in this little
CORGI puppy! Yes—Another Corgi!!

Lucy and I made the drive to northern Indiana yesterday to pickup this beautiful girl and drove her to Miss, Tennessee. She did so well in the carrier. The five and a half hour drive went by quickly. This was a great breeder who had her pup ready for
Pickup. The puppy just rode so well!! Thank you for repeat clients in my breeders who have stayed—“I hope you don’t mind me contacting you for quotes for transports, I ONLY trust you!”

What? Dallas to Vancouver! Yep! That’s right. No thanks to United Airlines. People seem to think that being a flight nanny is always glamorous and such fun with the travel. But let me express to you that it “ain’t always so!”

This morning I left the hotel in Dallas and returned my rental car fairly easy. Then on to contact the breeder and check-in for the flight with this gorgeous puppy.

Short story of a transport that could have gone bad——UNITED AIRLINES denied me passage on the flight because my puppy was not 6 months old. I asked to see the screen where they were reading from And I was told
I could not because it was internal.

I expressed to the lead person I was not trying to be rude but I really wanted to see the policy as this has never happened when flying a pup
From the US to Canada before. He informed Me Very quickly he would not permit anyone to be rude with him. (That was not my point!)

The lead person refused to let me speak with anyone higher on the totem pole.

Therefore, knowing that I was right, and was not getting anywhere, I did what a good flight nanny would do, imho. I walked down to the next airline which happened to be American Airlines purchased a same day ticket — yes it was almost triple what I had originally paid but at least I had a nonstop flight!

Flight Nannie’s must be able to think quickly on their feet and be problem
Solvers in order to survive in this competitive business. In addition, we need to stay humble when we are going g through these challenges.

At the end of the day, the puppy was delivered and the client was just super excited. He did not even know there was a mishap!

Another rescue in the books. This beautiful girl traveled from TN to TX with me and Lucy. She had been at a foster family a few days before I picked her up. She was, understandably, very nervous and vocal about the transition. With my audiobook playing, she calmed down and soon fell fast asleep.

When we arrived to meet her new family she showered them with kisses and nudges. My heart broke when she leaped to me a nuzzled herself under my arm and stayed. Oooohhh !!!

She has a wonderful family and a huge ranch to enjoy.

I haven’t posted in a few weeks but I have been flying away with my pets! The day of the computer glitches, I flew out of Cincinnati with final destination Santa Barbara. Then a quick pickup to turn around with final destination of Atlanta. Both layovers were in Dallas. Luckily, I was just delayed by a few hours with each hop. But when I landed in Atlanta 6 hours late, what a mess! Please enjoy Mr Pacino’s videos as he finally gets to be OUT of his carrier! I just love him. I made it home—as planned the next day only to gear up two days later and fly back to LA with no issues, even though there were still cancelations of flights. If a flight is delayed or an airport is closed, I do not cancel on my clients. Challenge accepted and my solution solving begins. I always request a small baggie of food and equip myself with emergency items necessary for the pet. Weather is unpredictable and delays can be extended for hours. Flights can and do cancel for a variety of reasons. What a cute lil fella traveling from Virginia to Pennsylvania. I just live this breed. His ears got In the water bowl! First time working with this breeder. She was excellent! Mccoy’s bullies located in Stanley, VA. Serina McCoy French and English bulldogs and Bassett hounds.

How so blessed I am! Again, I say again! The people that I meet along lifes’s journey are great! I am so grateful to have met the gentleman who received a beautiful Sharpei puppy from Zealous Blue Shar Pei. He’s suffered the lose of his wife and his Sharpei all within a year, the dog, just last week. Today I brought Puddles to him and it was live at first site. Puddles was so good in the flights across the states from Virginia to Oregon. I believe Puddles is going to have a wonderful life!
