Asteroid hyalosis occurs when multifocal refractile calcium-phosphate crystals develop and are suspended within the fluid in the eye. They are an incidental finding and are not considered pathological, as it is not thought to be associated with significant vision problems. And although it is a considered a normal aging change, it is not commonly seen.
We are so fortunate to be able to consult with Dr. Nunnery of Equine Veterinary Vision on weird and wild eye cases.
Congratulations, Anya Stiller! We’re so happy to see that little heartbeat and confirm your mare, Morgan, in foal to Central Time! #babylove #breedingseason2024 #equinevetlife
As a living work of art, it's only fitting that the horse has their very own holiday. Today, on National Day of the Horse, we're celebrating our horses by crafting the highest level of care from muzzle to hoof to tail.
Happy Thanksgiving! Today we're giving thanks to the entirety of our horse's health care team, including our technicians, veterinarians and farriers.
Today, on Veterans Day, we thank, celebrate and honor those who have served our country.
Unlike synovial joints in limbs, which contain joint fluid, the sacroiliac or SI joints are fibrous joints which connect the sacrum (aka tailbone, in people) and ilium (wing of the pelvis).
Because the SI joints lie deep within the horse's hips, SI injection requires a 10" needle and ultrasound guidance.
Can you spot the needle being advanced from the left side of the video??

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a video is even better! And we're proud to announce that we are now offering video endoscopy for our patients!
Endoscopy is a relatively non-invasive procedure in which a thin flexible tube containing a camera is used to examine internal structures and organs, including the upper airway, esophagus, bladder, uterus, and more!
Do you know what structures we are visualizing and evaluating in this video?
