As we gear up for another year at the NWSS. It’s time for another Britta appreciation post!
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙬 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧…Gray Owls Britta has really built a name for herself. Why? Her progeny.. she doesn’t miss! Year after year, and on a variety of crosses, Britta’s calves are standouts. So it’s only fitting that this is the second year in a row we will be offering a heifer out of her at the 2026 National Sale this January.
𝘽𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙮 & 𝙁𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙚… She’s a staple in our Donor lineup for many good reasons, but ultimately she’s functional in the pasture. Just in the last four years Britta has had four heifer calves, all sired by Genesis, and all in a tight calving window:
- WL Loretta (PV, D) DOB: 6/5/2022
- WL Mira (PV,D) DOB: 6/22/2023
- WL Nina (PV,D) DOB: 6/2/2024
- WL Raya (PV,D) DOB: 4/24/2025
Read the dates on those last two calves again while we do some math. Britta, a 2015 model cow, calved June 2nd, 2024. And then had to have cycled and conceived about 44 days post calving (Bred around July 16th, 2024) to have had WL Raya on April 24th, 2025 👏
That’s the type of cow we want in our herd AND the type of daughters you want in yours!
Fertility is a Highly Genetic Trait ya know 😉
𝘼 𝙘𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙮 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙚… Not only are her daughters in demand, her bull calves are too. WL Lincoln is a beast of a bull out of Britta & sired by Jock of Glengorm. He had an incredible show career in 2023/24, and his first calves have been jaw droppers!
To top it off Britta carries a nice pedigree, sired by GH Mr Chips (A Trafalgar Nathan son) and out of JAR Britni. Making Britta a full sibling to Gray Owl’s Bearach. Who was the 2013 NWSS Senior Bull Calf Champion. Amongst many other accolades.
Fun Fact: WL Lincoln (A Britta son) was also the Senior Bull Calf Champion at the NWSS in 2024 ✅
The best go to Denver…and the best are backed by generations of solid animals in their pedigree! Be sure to look out for WL Raya in the catalog!
