We had 4 SWAT Trucks come to the apartment building I currently live in. There was a gentleman 3 doors down from me that fired shots, holed up for about 4 hours, and was whisked away at 3:30 a.m. Charley and I had just got back from a walk when we happened upon the scene. Everybody got to go up to their apartments about 1:30. Charley, me, Jim, John and Darren got to hang out in the community room till it was all clear. Poor Squishy Bean. She’s exhausted.

Love, love, double double love. Loved to have the ball tossed into a snow mound and have to look for it because it seemed the white stuff swallowed the ball whole. Wait!!! What was that???? Bunny, Bunny, Bun…..ny…here I come! Ball in mouth, drop, drop. YAY!!! Bunny Bunny Bunny…..erggg… where’d you go? I better sniff the ground. Wait?!?! Where’s my ball? She’s gotta have it. I know she has another one in her pocket. Sniff, sniff, go in circles, run through the trees. Is she going to pull the extra ball out of her pocket???? NO!!! UGH.

Yeah. It’s been a bummer morning for her. (And yes, I’ve got extra balls hidden because I’ve learned….. my own way… why don’t I listen to advice??) I also have one last Chuck-It ball with the launcher hidden in plain sight. I think she knows that. Anyway. That’s Charley’s morning.

Tested Charley’s progress with her issue. She did really good last night. 100 % focus on her Indestructible Ball, and her 2 frisbees. She only had her WEST PAWS ( new version of the old Westpaws we had) and a half eaten Petco frisbee. But, dang, things still flies. And 4 tennis balls and a tennis racket....

Took Charley out this morning and in the evening to test where she might be in her stage of heat. She’s having a “dry heart”, meaning she’s not bleeding at all. Makes it hard for me to tell. It’s gotten a bit more intense. I think male dogs are catching wind (literally) of her, and marking areas around where we exit out building....

I am having a difficult time trying to figure out when Charley will be out of her heat. The reason for this, is she is going through what is called a “dry” heat. I’ve been sitting here Rummaging through all of the WordPress things that you can do and I’m just totally like going on a little rabbit hole thing right now because poor Charley cannot go outside right now because she is not even interested in balls or anything else she’s interested in bolting so I’ve got a chance to look at this and I’m totally like my mind is kind of like in a fuzzy discombobulated state....

I discovered Charley had gone into heat because of a couple spots of blood. So, I assumed she would be like my last dog, LB JUNE. Except LB June bled, and she was not spayed until 4 years old.
