DOG TRAINING
When bringing a new dog home, whether it is a puppy from a breeder, an adult dog from a rescue or you have an existing pup at home with training needs, always make training for your dog a priority.
Training is more than just teaching your dog to “sit”. Training is about building a strong, trusting bond and working towards creating a happy, well-behaved, confident dog that is comfortable going to new places, meeting new people or meeting new dogs without experiencing anxiety or fear.
I offer management strategies for difficult behaviors such as counter surfing, jumping, chewing, door dashing, among many, as well as two separate 6-week training sessions for puppies 8 wks-6 mos., and 6 mos. and up.
I will give you the tools to be able to continually challenge your dog long after our training sessions are done. You will not only learn the mechanics of training a new behavior, but you will learn the basic psychology behind training.
Training should be a daily part of your dog’s life for life!
You'll learn about the importance of setting up daily exercise and enrichment activities and how it keeps your dog’s brain busy, tires them out and helps prevent them from getting into trouble.

IS IT TOO COLD FOR YOUR DOG? There are quite a few variables: coat type, coat color, size, weight, overall health and conditioning, and age that can determine your dog's susceptibility to extreme cold. Then there is the type of cold. Is there a wind chill factor, is it wet or snowing, is there cloud cover that restricts sunlight?
Once the mercury starts to dip below 45 degrees, you’ll begin to see the adverse effects weather can have on dogs, particularly small short haired breeds, elderly dogs, or those with health conditions.
Anything below 32 degrees is where you really want to start paying attention to signs of shivering, anxiety, lack of movement, whining, and general malaise. Once the temperature gets below 20 degrees, there is the potential for hypothermia and frostbite.
