Renegade is a super reactive horse and is very flighty. he’s done super well with letting me touch his face but when I move my feet he gets nervous and likes to try to get away. A lot of times running to the other side of the pen. So I’ve taken a step back from worrying about touching him tons and getting to his tag and shoulders. We’ve been working on him quietly moving off my pressure and facing up. Doing this a couple of times each day has helped tons. Hes starting to think before reacting. Last night we worked on the whooooaa as well. I send him off with some pressure, and as soon as I take the pressure off I saw “whoooooaa” and he stops and faces up. I think this will help a lot when I start him under saddle.

Introducing tag number 6757 now known as “Scrat”. Scrat is a 2 year old gelding from Stinking Water HMA. He is a Bay roan and stands around 15.2 to 15.3. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was bigger! He’s super curious and going to be a super cool horse! We are competing in the MYWY Mustang madness competition this year in the in hand division!

I would like to introduce one of my MYWY Mustang Madness horses. Tag number 7203, also known as Renegade is a 5 year old gelding standing 15.2 hands from Palomino Butte HMA In Oregon. He has been doing super well and allowed me to touch him and rub his face. We are working on getting past his face to his shoulder and neck.

Last night we set up a quick and simple course with a few obstacles. Nothing crazy just simple. He did super well considering this was the first night being introduced to this type of thing! He did great!!

It’s one difficult task to get a rise out of this guy. This was within the first 5 minutes of him being introduced to a bag full of empty aluminum cans. I’m super proud of him!

There’s a lot of good, solid, calm horses in this world…and this guy is definitely one of them!! I love him more and more by the day❤️

We’ve been working lots on desensitizing with random things around the barn. Wrangler saddles and takes a bit like an old ranch horse, but we aren’t focused on getting him broke to ride since we are in the in-hand division. He drags the tarp, walks over the tarp, and will carry the tarp if you ask him to with no issues. He isn’t so into me throwing it underneath him and around his legs, but he does tolerate it. He’s got such a good mind and thinks about things before he makes a big reaction.

Wrangler and I have been working hard on desensitizing and he has yet to have a coming apart over anything! He amazes me every time I throw something new and “scary” at him…I guess it’s never as scary as I anticipate it to be! 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Hey everybody! I created this page to post updates about wranglers progress for anybody that would like to follow it! I’ve been a bit behind the ball but as I’m sure lots of people know I’m participating in the “Teens and Oregon Mustangs” competition! It’s been amazing and I’ve got one month left till the competition!! Hope everybody enjoys the updates!
