We are thrilled to have Shallie join us with experience in the veterinary field as well as experience in canine rehab therapy with her own rescue, Stallone💕

Shallie shares- “My name is Shallie Brodie. Although I stay home with my 3 girls now I have worked in veterinary medicine as an assistant for over 8 years. I love preventive care, dermatology, nutrition, and client education. I was only recently introduced to a new way or orthopedic care when my own dog came up with issues of his own about a year and a half ago. He wasn’t a good candidate for surgery and I didn’t know where to turn. After a referral to Dr. Hall it opened a whole new world for us of orthopedic care from physical therapy to orthopedic braces. It’s not something that is widely done in veterinary medicine but it just makes sense. If we go to physical therapy why not our pets? I am so excited to be working with these amazing people in a whole new way of caring for pets. It’s opened up a whole new passion and one I hope to see become more of a “norm” for our furry family members.
In my free time I love spending time with my husband and our 3 kids. We love food, movies, and being outdoors. We love watching our kids show chickens and play sports. We live on a small farm which keeps us busy but animals are a passion for the whole family.”

Help Needed for Those Affected by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina.

Today, we're pausing our usual posts to highlight a friend and WIMBA Provider, Nikki Myers, from Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospitals, who is actively involved in relief efforts in North Carolina following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. The region has been hit especially hard, with many areas accessible only by air.

Nikki Myers, along with a few friends, has been tirelessly volunteering to organize donations and deliver supplies to those unable to reach the distribution centers. So far, Nikki and her team have been working independently, responding to calls for help and rescuing as many animals as they can find.

We are welcoming September like a breath of fresh air. Thank you to all the Adventure Dog Parents who have been patient and new pack member families have been so understanding these past months🙏

I want to personally thank each of you that have reached out about how you can help your fur friend, and I apologize for the delay in getting to your questions (and for those Adventure Dog families, me not being available for over a month).

I know this has been an added stress for some during an already uncomfortable time, so we are moving forward with exciting changes to make sure you are heard and getting the help your canine companion needs faster🐾💙

Keep an eye out for these updates in the coming weeks, and if you are an Adventure Dog parent wanting a to schedule, please email [email protected] with some availability starting the second week in September (or just let me know how things are going, if things are going well and you don’t need a session this month)

Not getting to see so many of you these past months has been hard on me too, but I’m so thankful we have had Dr. Christine Toffoli making a difference, still helping pack members recover better and faster with 🙌🥳

Today’s topic is Summer Cookout Safety! As we dive into the summer season, let’s not forget about our furry friends during cookouts and outdoor gatherings. Here’s a friendly reminder about potential hazards and how to keep our pets safe:

-Fireworks: Keep pets away from fireworks to prevent ingestion, which can cause stomach issues and affect the heart and nervous system. Also, dispose of used fireworks that may fall in your yard.
- Sunscreen and bug spray: These can be harmful if ingested or applied to pets, so make sure to store them securely.
- Harmful Foods: Be mindful of items like sauces, rubs, garlic, onion, coffee, grapes, raisins, and cocoa powder, which are toxic to pets.
- Insecticides: Watch out for potential ingestion of insecticides, which can lead to stomach upset and nervous system problems in pets.
- Alcohol: Always keep alcoholic beverages away from pets.
- Other hazards: Keep tiki torch fuel, lighter fluid, charcoal, skewers, corn cobs, and bones out of reach to avoid stomach upset, aspiration, and foreign body obstructions.
