This is Mabel! We began training at only 4 months old. Mabel needed some guidance on quite a few things since she is a puppy, but she is very smart and learns super quickly! In only 5 sessions, Mabel completely learned “stay,” “come,” and “look.” She also started learning “drop it” since she has an issue of picking at house plants and random objects, and though it needs more practice and time she still caught onto the concept in just half an hour and even dropped a few toys on her own on command. We also worked on decreasing door darting before leaving for a walk, as well as if people are coming in and out the door. In just a few sessions we’ve gotten to the point where Mabel has been able to continually stay even if the door is all the way open, as well as if we are walking away out the door in plain sight. Of course there are slip ups and thats totally expected and okay, but the self control she has gained in such a short time is evident. Lastly, we worked on her being better on walks overall, listening to the owner at any random given time and not just going wherever she wants. She was never really a crazy walker and never pulled much which is great, but of course we still want to improve as much as we can. At first, Mabel was quite distracted outdoors and had some difficulty being able to stay and sit when we needed her to, but after only 2 walking sessions and having the owner practice walking her on only 1 side of him most of the time, she is now more adapted, she’s better at working through outside distractions such as people and cars, her reaction time is a lot quicker, and she can listen well and regularly. She did an amazing job in such a short amount of time and has come a long way! I also recommended products to deter the plant chewing, as well as toy products to keep her mind stimulated and busy to help her burn that energy and get through the teething process as all puppies need!
