The 4th of July can be a stressful and potentially dangerous time for dogs due to fireworks, large gatherings, and changes in routine. Here are some safety tips to keep your dog safe and comfortable 🩵

Before Fireworks 🐾
Identification: Ensure your dog is wearing a collar with an up-to-date ID tag. Microchipping your dog is also a great idea!

Exercise: Take your dog for a long walk during the day to tire them out before the evening activities.

Safe Space: Create a safe, quiet space in your home where your dog can retreat if they feel scared. This could be a crate or a room where they feel secure.

Calm Environment: Play calming music or white noise to help drown out the sound of fireworks.

Calming Medications: Reach out to your vet if you feel medication for your dogs anxiety will help your dog get them through the fireworks.

During Fireworks 🐾🫣
**Keep Indoors**: Keep your dog indoors during fireworks. This reduces the risk of them running away if they get scared.

Close Windows and Curtains: This will help muffle the noise and reduce the visual stimuli of fireworks.

Stay Calm: Dogs can pick up on their owner's anxiety. Stay calm and provide comfort without reinforcing fearful behavior.

Distractions: Provide toys, chews, or a favorite treat to distract your dog from the noise outside.
