UPDATE: the homes lined up for Millie didn’t work out due to timing so she is still available! She’s making lots of progress on training but I do still believe she would be best in a home without her mom ❤️
We are super sad to say that while we kept sweet, beautiful Millie back for her genetics and future breeding, she bonded too much to her mom and sister which is making her training a little more difficult on the human side (a common occurrence we had hoped we could overcome).
I will only breed dogs I know 1000% are the best genetics for it, but with the inability to train her as I would like, I can’t in good confidence breed her without seeing her full potential. And because we keep all of our dogs as pets in our home, we decided it’s best she go somewhere to reach her best possibly potential and focus our efforts on the other dogs (and children ;)) !
So we are looking to place Millie in a home where she can thrive as a companion (which I am confident she will do).
The difficult:
Does not listen well to commands. And has developed some bad habits (like chasing chickens and jumping up on guests along with occasionally having accidents in the house and peeing when she gets in trouble) due to that fact. Most of her problems come from not responding well to correction, and she will often run and hide from us while trying to work with her. I am confident these can be overcome with one on one training once she has bonded to her people as opposed to her mom. But as farmers we also can’t risk her chicken chasing habit passing on to our other dogs (this is normally very trainable, especially at her age! Just a problem when she’s not well bonded to us).
The good:
She has learned lots from her momma, which is: being calm in the house, not destructive, amazing with kids (especially babies and toddlers whom she adores) and does not run off or leave the property. She is crate trained, house trained (minus the accidents mentioned), and does recall well when outside. She has not shed (unfortunately I can’t guarantee this will stay! But it has with my others), does not mat easily (she has a lovely, silky, easy-keeper and easy to brush coat, have yet to see a mat on her), and keeps herself pretty clean for a farm dog. She really is naturally incredibly sweet, and I would LOVE to see her in the right environment to let that quality shine! She’s affectionate and calm but also loves to play and be outdoors. My toddler can feed her out of this hand wherever she is (the last photo is her cheering him up after a tumble ;)). Zero health concerns.
She is 8 months old (born June 14th of 2022) weighs around 25-30 lbs (not as big as she looks in the first photo) so is a great small/medium sized dog. Is not likely to grow much more if at all. Tri-red merle with dark red spots throughout her red coat. One blue eye, one green.
Because she was pick of the litter her original price before we decided to keep her was 3k. However of course because she is now over 8 months old her price will be reduced! Starting at 2k but willing to work out a price to the right new owners. Message me any other questions and feel free to come visit her and I promise to be fully upfront if I think of any problems not listed here. We will be particular on her home as by now we know well what her needs are and want her in the best situation.
Reduced price: 1k (but please reach out with offers ❤️)
Thanks for considering!
