I wish I got a picture.

I'm waiting in line to be checked in for my appointment for my kitty when the cutest little sweetheart kept trying to get me to play with her. The dog lover that I am, I bent over allowing this little girl to sniff me as I'm petting her. I had probably 5 minutes standing in line behind her. I thought to myself she has the same coloring as my Bronco (the boy we kept from our first litter years ago). Didn't think much of it except that she was so darn cute and I wanted to take her home hahaha. The owner of the dog steps to the side and I was able to check in. That's when it happened.

The owner recognizes me and says something. I am so glad she did! It took a second, but then, yes, I knew exactly who she was and remembered her hubby too. They got the dog from me! What a small world to run into a past puppy.

No wonder the puppy wanted me so much, she might remember? Who knows with dogs. That was the highlight of my morning.

It was a real pleasure running into you Karen.

Not that it's a race....but... the only girl, Maisy, opened her eyes today. She's the only one at the moment.

About our current litter.

The chocolate color in Havanese is a genetically recessive trait that is rare. Two copies of the recessive bb gene are required to produce the exotic chocolate color. Both parents must carry a chocolate gene to produce a Chocolate Havanese puppy.

With that being said, this whole litter is looking to be all chocolates. We will know for sure in 2 weeks when their nose color is fully in, and they have their eyes open.

Our stud Lypton is a chocolate and Brunette is also chocolate. We have had, I believe 1-3 chocolates come from Tootsie and Lypton in the past. (see included picture of one of our past puppies). The eye color of a chocolate Havanese range from brown hazel to light or medium brown. However, blue, green and gold have been present as well.

Well if you've been considering a Havanese, now would be a great time to sn**ch up one of the rare colors. Just a thought.
