We are very grateful to the Minnesota Hunter Jumper Association for placing this photo in their summer magazine!! I’m not sure how they got this photo, as I didn’t send it in, which makes it even more special!!Smitty had the heart of a Champion!! 🏅 Everyday without him hurts, but with time hurts a little less 💙

McCadden Show Stables has expanded and we are currently offering leases on National Show Horses as well as local show horses!! We have a great community of riders!! Classes for new riders start at the beginning of each month. We also have a group of experienced lesson horses to get you started if you are just coming back into riding. A good reminder to ALWAYS pick out your horses hooves before riding! This is the biggest rock in a foot I have ever seen and it was wedged in tight. Fortunately our farrier was here and was able to remove it. Cash was completely fine. But missing this important detail would have for sure hurt him!! 🧐🐎💙

Our riders had a great weekend At RPHSA Stonegate last weekend!! It was a weekend full of Championships, Reserve Championships, riders stepping up to new challenges, nap times, students giving other students pep talks, and Pork Chop overcoming his new fear of chickens!! All of our riders were in the ribbons! And a big Congratulations to all our riders. . 🏅Lydia was Champion & Reserve Champion. 🏅Karen claimed her first Champion & Reserve Champion on Cash!! 🏅Maria was Reserve Champion. 🏅Maddie was Reserve Champion in the jumpers!!

Congratulations to Maddie & Emily and our wonderful horse Red!! These new partnerships had a spectacular spring outing! Maddie earned a Reserve Championship on the grass field and Emily earned a Championship and a 2nd in the Medal on the grass field at the Carriage House Show!! Congratulations ladies, we love to see Red in his top winning form!! 🏆🥇🥈 Thank you Carriage House for continuing your great show and RPHSA for hosting!!

The great thing about horses and training them is they always keep you on your toes!! With the nice weather and the grass growing the horses were very fresh and excited this week!! Tom and I got talking about warmbloods vs Thoroughbreds. Tom says the warmbloods have these long drawn out spooks and they look for a long time and then they will stop and spin. Tom says- “just spook already, your looking is scaring me!!” He says he prefers the Thoroughbreds, because if they are very fresh and explosive they are calm and they they just lose it, take off and in Walter’s case today launch 3’ feet in air. Tom says he prefers that, “it’s not this long drawn out ordeal, you either live or you die… but you don’t have to think about it, you just trust your skills!” (As a side note, we do not put our students on horses when they are this fresh, and if they are super fresh we will either change course or have a professional work them down so they are calm and safe!! It’s just us professionals that get to deal with the real crazy rides!)

In honor of the Kentucky Derby today meet Cash, our fancy show hunter!! Cash’s sire is Go For Gin, who won the Kentucky Derby in 1994!! Cash managed to acquire absolutely NONE of his father’s speed. He DID acquire the desire to show in a ring as long as people watching and cheering him on and he loves to pose for the camera!!! 🤣🐎🌟
